That happened to me outside the Town Hall in Shoreditch. I ended up having to leave my bike there overnight Luckily it was still there the next day. I'd seen the bike locked up there before so I guessed it was just an honest (if not massively annoying) mistake.
yeah, that happened to me once - it was just before i was off to south america and it was my expedition bike that they targeted. I had to call a locksmith out to cut the lock off, cost me £50 but at least I didn't lose my bike...
Lucky - this is a common technique used by bike theives.
They lock a crappy old bike to yours, preventing you from removing your bike, forcing you to leave it locked up overnight.
At which point they come along cut your lock with no one around to see them.....
