Looking at it in the cold light of day I like my standard team
Lead back out to 9'20'' after 64km
Rojas (MOV) has abandoned.
due to a damaged elbow caused by a fall in the neutral zone.
The lead went out to 10', but now brought back to 7'50'' after 55km.
lead is now 7'45"
They have 5'30'' after 34km
Looks like the break is this so far...

This should be good entertainment.....The OPQS train will have everybody running scared and there should be some pretty exciting lung-bursting, leg-knackering shanannigans to try and derail it....... Let the lottery begin.....I would not be confident of picking the winner if I could pick 20 riders...
Well i've gone with the weather forecast and gone classic/AR riders no sprinters!
Seems to me that OPQ are the only team set up for a convincing sprint finish but im not convinced, hoping for the same kinda out come as last year
No more tinkering for me, by the way. Doing the Sport Relief thing tomorrow, so will be up early doors. The hailstorm I can hear outside my window does not bode well for what should've been a straightforward 50-mile jaunt...
Gerro was in my purist. Replaced by Cancellara (who was originally in neither of my teams).
Super strong field, always a tough race to predict. Perhaps unwisely I'm going against the bookies and picking Greipel over Cav for my standard. Sagan in purist only (but got five very strong contenders instead in standard - as long as it comes down to a sprint).
Hopefully people get their emails, some people have 3 riders that I've just removed from the startlist
Sagan and Gilbert are also out. Replaced with Sonny and Cher
Oh yeah... also Matteo Tossato is out, replaced by Nikolay Trusov.
Anyone know if Moser is riding....He is on roadcc as riding but not on PCS startlist.. ??
I believe he's out - knee pain. Replaced by Paolo Longo Borghini
Also, Gerrans out, Lancaster in
and Phinney out - dunno his replacement EDIT actually, it's Klaas Lodewyck
Well I've chopped and changed that much I really don't know how my teams will do .....always a tough race to call
I don't think you'll be able to win without Sagan on your team! Unless he comes in 4th or lower... What a dilemma!
I'm having the same dilemma with Sagan - he should go well but could get two riders who might also go well for the same outlay...
Right, everyone is keeping their cards close to their chest for this race it seems! I'll start then.
Very tough to pick a team for this race (less climbs this year but it's always unpredictable). Not sure whether to go for all-out sprinters or go for a mix of sprinters and classics specialists (that finish well even in sprints). Very hard and lots of riders are quite expensive as well
So far I have 2 dedicated sprinters, 4 classics riders, 1 um...classics/sprinter, 1 former classics rider (good value for money), and 1 random. I'll name one name: Sagan. He just doesn't want to fit in my team without me sacrificing the quality of a few of my other riders...
Is it better having 2 semi-decent classics specialists than going for another sprinter and a cheaper rider??? Decisions decisions. I think my second team will be very different - maybe I can find Sagan some team mates
The issue was just that some of the teams were loaded in, but they are in, so just waiting on a proper startlist
It is just a pleasure to be working with the most current start lists. Thanks, G!
Hmmm... Is Boonen in? I'm surprised he's not on the PCS start list...
