Giro Stage 17

Looks too technical to me for a straight forward sprint so a few GC changes for me plus a couple punchers types

Kelderman(pozzo)
Swift(Wellens)
Battaglin(Monlsave)
Quintana(Evans)
Henao(Rabottini)

Aru
Majka
Arredondo
Uran

Brought in felline... For wellens. Even when I'm right, I'm wrong. At least I didn't fall into the trap of bringing sprinters in!

Bookies cleaned up... $5 Bouhanni, nearly got last, no way FDJ are strong enough to pull peleton we seen that other day 1 Paddy Power be rolling in it...Sprint stage LOL.

Weren't Paddy's refunding losing bets if an Italian won the stage? Strings attached, no doubt, but that was the offer I saw.

He is certainly a talent... last year I marked down Killer Kwaitowski and Magic Majka for this year...
This year I have marked Wellens and Preidler (LTB and GIANT have some good climbing youth coming thru) before here tho... and Aru just gets better, his improvement last 12 months extraordinary . He couldn't stay with Majka and Kelderman most of last year.

Break is home isn't it...there goes the first 20 spots 2 hope I am massively wrong. Over 10 mins 60km ???

Would think if break sprint finishes, felline and Geshcke hard to beat.

Well I missed me trades yesterday, knew Rolland and Henao would hurt me.
was hoping I could make a bit of ground up today 2 I didn't think this would be a sprint as the last climb is 1.1km hitting 16 and 18% . 20km out tho, would be good chance to have a crack. sounds like a MINI Mur De Hoy .lol.

Tried to find some break riders and tougher fast men, FAILED, I think , bloody wellens is killing me since I gave him a wrap.

IN BATTAGLIN, HAAS, HANSEN.

Aru
Evans
Quintana
Kelderman
Arredondo
Battaglin
Haas
Hansen
Fedi
No Hansen or others in break 2

Gee the know how to balls an event up, remember the air banner falling on road in front of leaders break last year, lol.

Bought in the big 3 sprinters and looking at 20 penalty points tomorrow so if this sprint. doesn't happen I'm screwed again , although my gc guys negate some of the penalties , I've had to gamble again if I want to try and make a late surge in the fc stakes 38

Taken a bit of a gamble bringing in Santoramita & Ulissi (thinking break, so if anyone else has them in their team - my apologies in advance if I've ruined it by picking them 3 ) and then Nizzollo in case there's a sprint (so I don't do quite as badly 1 )

It'll be interesting if Quintana or Rolland(remember he has form for attacking in dubious circumstances in the 'tacks on the road' stage in Wiggo's TDF?) has a mechanical?

Who?
Wasn't LL Cool J = Luis Leon Sanchez , away and the winner that day ?

LuLu won from a break that had already formed long before the tacks........Rolland attacked whilst everyone else waited for Evans to claim a team mates bike......Cummings and Tejay both blanked him I think?

Rolland was left hanging in the gap between Lulu's group and the Group Maillot Jaune under Wiggo's patronage until it got it's act together and caught and then spat him out of the back.....if memory serves?

Still not sure who you were talking about here RAY, you haven't responded!
Only rider in that break that is here , was GORKA. cadel had to change tyre 3 times.

Rolland was the guilty party on that day attacking the Maillot Jaune group whilst Wiggo(and Nibali for that matter) attempted to neutralise the racing for their 50 strong group to let Evans recover.....LuLu's escape group(11 strong at the time) were well and truly clear and were perfectly entitled to fight out the stage.

Rumours exist that Haimar Zubeldia was the angriest rider and had to be stopped from confronting Rolland at stage end?

This was the GC situation at the time

General Classification after Stage 13
GBR 1 WIGGINS, Bradley (SKY PROCYCLING) 59:32:32
GBR 2 FROOME, Christopher (SKY PROCYCLING) + 2:05

Ok cool I remember that too, just I didn't know who you were talking about.
Yes LL was long gone, MY THINKING that's why it happen, it was I am sure the BASQUE fans with the tacks, previous form for it and I am sure some nice bets were landed by the Basque mafia 13

Sticking with GC contenders and saving my transfers for later mountain stages. Got in Quintana and Arredondo for Evans and Duarte.

Swift, Nizzolo, Mezgec, Bouhanni and... Battaglin.

No Viviani, but the guy I don't have who perhaps I should is Haas. Saying that, not gambling on hunches has worked quite well for me so far.

Also, the big descent at the start might suggest a Hansen escape, but again that's a big gamble, so I'm not going for it. Also the sprinters already made the mistake of not gunning for the break this Giro and I doubt they'll be happy to let another get away
