Long way to go yet.
Last 50km are flat, Bora, Jumbo, Cofidis will all work to bring the front group back.
I find it hard to believe that Quickstep are allowed to get away with being so disruptive to the chasing group. They effectivley blocked the road and slowed down around the final corner. Lampaert even had his arms out stopping people going around his outside.
I imagine that will have been a poor race for most people.
Hopefully the transfers I didn't use will come in useful later.
Went for a split of sprinters and others....already one rider down.
Make that two down with Colbrelli.
I went for a couple of sprinters too. Colbrelli is not looking good after crashing and Sky/QuickStep are obliterating the race. High winds and a little damp so probably not a sprint.
My team for K-B-K
COLBRELLI
GROENEWEGEN
TRENTIN
STYBAR
NAESEN
PHILIPSEN
ROELANDTS
PETIT
5 in the top10 isn't bad I suppose.
Roelandts and Petit saving themselves for tomorrow, I hope.
Vanmarcke is now on my don't pick list.
Who to bring in tomorrow?
Quickstep no longer have a pure sprinter, so I expect they will make it a very tough race.
Well done to anyone with Stybar! I went with Gilbert and Lampaert as my QuickStep riders, whoops.
Kapelmurr next, that should sort them out a bit
And so starts my favourite 2 months of the year. Cobbles, bergs and proper racing, love it
Oh aye....a bit of a lottery to pick a winner though...a lot of great riders.
That's what's so good about these races.
Oh yes.
Just finished reading Bradley Wiggins "Icons" book....he waxes lyrical about the one day races throughout. Seems to be his favourite races as well.
I've just seen his jersey (Belgian stripes on his sleeves) in a small group off the front of the peloton.
Good.
I also haven't seen that, it would be all over Twitter is that was true.
Picked it up on Zweeler. Are they mistaken?
Damn. Just seen Naesen didn’t start. Having no luck at all lately.
Where did you see that?
I haven't seen that bit of bad news anywhere.
Safe picks for Omloop -
Van AVERMAET
GILBERT
TRENTIN
STYBAR
NAESEN
VANMARCKE
ROELANDTS
PETIT
Hopefully none of them have picked up the flu bug that is going around.
Got those first six...
Thanks
Do the spring classics count towards the season purist competition?
There is no Purist game, so no.
Yeah. Fantastic looking roster. So many great riders....let the lottery begin.
Comp now open!
A reminder that the 2nd race will be Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, which is the day after Omloop. So 2 races on the opening weekend to get things started.
The rider values were hard to balance because the sprinters and GC riders are always more epxensive. This should give more choice for the cobbled classics and I tried to lower the average value of the sprinters for the flat races and not have too many expensive guys for the Ardennes. Hopefully it works out alright.
Stage profiles will be added when decent ones exist, there are about 7 in so far.
Thanks Andy
