I don't think the sports editor at the LEP knows squat about pro-cycling. Great that they've finally given him a mention, but read that article then go to the BBC and read their article.
I think both articles are cut and paste from Cycling News.
Interesting picture in the LEP. Carthy in the Young riders jersey in the ITT stage of 2015 USA Pro Challenge ?
Shocking really. I think it might be fair to say that Hugh is now projecting himself into the top tier of cycling as a genuine player of note....surely their should be more interest than this from his home town. It would be interesting to see the coverage the Yates brothers got from their local rag when they suddenly jumped up a peg or two.
I just did a search on their local rag the Bury Times.
They have been reporting on the Yates twins from quite an early stage in their careers, from at least 2009.
The big difference is probably that the Yates were both representing UK on the track before their road careers started. They also raced locally at the Manchester Velodrome which probably got local press coverage.
One of the rides of the season from Hugh Carthy....fantastic...Did Anybody bring him in..or indeed still have him?
Even more remarkable given how he struggled up one of those climbs already this week....
Yep, two transfers for this stage. Lost the two TT specialists and brought back Hirt and Carthy.
After a good Giro, I had an awful Dauphine. This race has gone much better again.
Brave pick Sniffer...especially given he struggled up one of those climbs just a couple of days ago. I listed him as one of the ones i’d fancy trying for the break (above) but tbh i’d have had him below Costa, Sanchez, and Frank...in fact I think Frank may have been the most predictable breakaway. Good pick by you.
Carthy was maybe more a gamble. I just thought he had the ability to do something special. The other three might try, but there climbing ability these days meant they couldn't deliver the big result.
That might be tough on LLS though.
Carthy’s biggest victory these past few weeks is that he is now a contender. No longer in the shadow of Woods or anybody else but a genuine contender in his own right.....In fact right now he’d be my first choice for any grand tour for EF.
It will be interesting to see what Uran does in the Tour, I think he is an outsider for the podium.
I messaged the sports editor at the LEP re Carthy & got a like for my post but still no mention on the website.
I think a lot of people had Carthy left over from before the ITT for yesterday, a lot of people moved up in the classification whereas I went down with what was a strong result.
My brother did just that...just had him left over. I'm sure a few would have brought him in from choice but probably the minority. He's a great rider in the making.
Absolutely chuffed for Hugh McCarthy.
One of the best solo rides I have seen.
Will he get a mention in the LEP now ?
Will he hell. I just took the dog a walk and found a bike mad neighbour washing his car...he hadn’t even bothered watching him even though he knows him. Pffft....No interest at all from my fellow Prestonites. Too busy worshiping Tom Finney.

Yeah...read it...and about time. Maybe your nudge did the trick. ..well done Minardi.

Dennis poor show by his standards was a bit of a game changer tomorrow. I fancied the time bonus on the line would have been in play but maybe not now. Will it be a race or a parade for the GC boys?
Given recent races it will be a day for the break.
Riders won't want to go deep before TdF.
But riders who aren't doing TdF will be up for it. Pozzovivo should go for the break which could make the stage lively.
But I suspect we will get another boring Sunday afternoon with no action.
You can almost hear the instructions from Team Ineos. Just follow Dennis until he looks tired on the final climb. Job done.
Plenty of riders for the break. Imhof, Costa, Soler, Frank, Sanchez, King, Carthy....loads would like to claim it. ...and a few would welcome a roll in...Even Imhof and a race for KOM seems iffy....not the best rider in the world so the breakaway could leave him standing from the off with an immediate tough climb and some decent climbers in the break.
I brought in Kung, Bodnar, and Kragh Anderson for Soler, Mas, and Spilak. Two transfers for tomorrow.
Only brought in Kung & Bodnar for today, leaving 3 transfers for tomorow.
Bernal
Mas
Konrad
Bodnar
Kung
Dennis
Pozzovivo
Soler
Very interested to see how Kamna goes today, he was a good ITT rider up until his injury/illness but hasn't been very good recently.
Only one difference in my team. I have Benoot for your Soler. Two transfers for tomorrow which should be enough.
Good too see Kamna back up to speed in the ITT, with his performance on the hills this week, he now looks like an up and coming GC contender.
Now regretting not bringing him into my team in the place of Soler.
Kung isn't the same rider as last year, probably down to the wind tunnel Groupama use.
Bodnar doing what he always does when I pick him, half-hearted effort.
Should have dropped Pozzovivo rather then Hirt. Couldn't decide who would be worse.

I made the same mistake. I held on to Pozzovivo as if Dennis won there would have been a team mate bonus.
It's gone through now
Hang about, I was updating yesterday and it kept crashing. Trying again, we'll see if it goes through.
OK, thank you.
Is the site down? I see no updates for Stage 6 and no comments for 22 hours.
It's been a bit quiet on the comments front this week atge six has updated points wise on my screen but no updates tp positions etc
Fully expected Dennis to slide today but nothing of the sort. I get put off him a bit from last year when he declared himself as a GC hopefull the day before a big slide. Do we expect he can do it for two days running tomorrow?...I went with Pozzovivo as the chosen one and never really contemplated both doing the business...
