World Championships - Individual Time Trial

Roster update has been done so you can now pick your teams 1

While the TTT was fairly straightforward the ITT will be significantly more difficult, not least because of credit limitations.  With the big three favourites all over 30 credits it severly restricts your ability to pick from the mid-priced guys, riders like Chavanel, Westra or Pinotti are all priced quite highly so making the best use of your cheap picks will be key!

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

Swap out Chavanel for Roy to save a bunch of credits then.... not sure, Ludvigsson? Talansky?

Only two wrong, can't see Fab being too bothered with this one to be fair.
Gone for a few guys who I think will top 5 and then a few super wild cards

Hmm,

Martin
Wiggins
Larsson
Rasmussen
Phinney
Malori
Chavanel
Grabsch
Pinotti

That about right? Interesting mix of medium priced riders with a potential higher score than the Martin, Cancellara, Wiggins, Phinney +5 base I'm currently working with assuming Cancellara is aiming for the Road Race and not the TT.

Yeah, his swede is Quaade, who beat Rasmussen in the Swedish National Championhsips. And at 3.0, what a nice pick! 1

Rasmussen and Quaade are both Danish and both were beaten by Vandborg.

Larsson won the Swedish champs over Ludvigsson.

I have a sneaky feeling about a couple of the 6-12 credit guys, just need to work out if I can squeeze them in and still keep the favourites...

What's the IOC country code for the USA? I'm trying to type USA in the search box but I get no results... Are there any USA riders in the time trial? 2

Will we be getting the trade team-mate bonuses or nationality bonuses?

Team mate bonus by country although I doubt that will really come into it unless you want to spend 10 credits on picking up Grabsch/Gretsch for an extra 5 points. I think there are better options though 1

So, what's everyone thinking?

Drop one of Cancellara, Martin or Wiggins and bring in a couple of mid-priced guys (Castroviejo/Malori etc)?

Pick the probable top three and spread the remaining credits around?

Or pick the probable top four (Phinney/Chava or someone similar) and just go for really cheap others?

I'm leaning towards the latter but if Phinney or whoever I pick as my 4th placed finisher has a bad day I'll be much worse off than those who edge their bets.

You could say the same for the big three as well though?

True, although I think unless one has a technical problem you can pretty much guarantee that Martin/Wiggins/Cancellara will be right up there.

There is another way...pick a purist team without martin, wiggo, fab or kwia, and pray for a thunderstorm and wind change as they leave the start gate....i like a gamble. ;0)

I've tried to put a couple of riders from the (UCI) team and when I tried to put a 3rd rider from the (UCI) team I got the message that I already had 2 riders from that team... ? 2

I see Cancellara is in - but hasn't he chosen to concentrate on the road race?

I think he's got his eye on the road race but after beating Martin recently he might fancy his chances in the ITT.

Have you seen the start times for the ITT posted anyhwere? Thanks!

I saw Kwiatkowski is the highest valued rider for the ITT!... Wow! Never expected that!

He's not the highest priced rider for the ITT, he's the highest priced rider for all three world championship events. He's got form in the TTT, ITT and on Medium Mountain stages so across all three events he's the 'best' rider. Riders like Martin and Wiggins have form in one or two of those events but not all three so they are cheaper.

All fair, but perhaps on the basis of unlimited transfers for both standard and purist, maybe the rider prices should change in future world champs for each race to reflect their discipline specific strengths. But that's prob a nightmare for the administrator to run 3

Not a nightmare, we'd just need to separate out each race into its own competition.

There are major downsides to that though, namely that prices would be set for every rider in the game on each individual event meaning for the ITT anyone with any ITT form would have a high price. Because the best TTers are all in the race it means that there wouldn't be much price variation. You'd have everyone who's scored well in a TT at 30+ credits then all the crap down at 3 credits and naff all in between.

Grouping the three races together gives some variation by averaging values across all the events.
