Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/18649201.car-crash-wall-iceland-s...

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

What on earth for?  I mean - nothing's changed about his actions so why should we treat him differently now?  Telling lies - check.  One rule for me, one rule for the rest?  Check.  Illegal activity?  Check. (OK not actually fined / convicted but this isn't the first police investigation and if you think people are inciting on road.cc surely this conversation would trigger you [more here and here]).

Don't worry I won't make it a habit, but that one was too crazy not to share

That can't be right - those don't sound like the actions of a law abiding Prime Minister

Oh - I wasn't complaining - merely suggesting that it's done more than enough to deserve a leading role of its own - I make that seven of them just in the last week's worth of comments here (albeit a couple of those have the twofer of also involving a building).

Buller Buller Buller.

documentary Boris Johnson: The Irresistible Rise wrote:

"This is a truly shameful vignette of almost superhuman undergraduate arrogance, toffishness and twittishness," Mr Johnson said when reminded of his exploits as part of the documentary.

Lads are lads.  Back in the day.  So that's OK then.

From here - documentary here.

Why in power?  See comments on the documentary e.g. "Boris comes across as an extremely likeable chap, he shows great optimism and has a great sense of humour." and (maybe tongue in cheek) "It’s unique and fantastic how Boris manages to deflect and laugh at something that would probably end most politicians careers!"

Thinking Skills eh.
Would that be how to commit more offences but not go to jail?

Apparently, there's reports that the tow truck coming to rescue it is struggling to get past parked cars.

The driver has managed not to touch the fence, the wall or the house or any cars. But it will be a bit of a challenge getting it back out again

The Post reckoned they finally got it out at about 10pm last night.  So it was stuck there for about fifteen hours.  Does the driver get overtime? 3

That Wilf Johnson in the comments seems like some of the tosser trolls on here. Got very defensive when blaming *insert german manufacturer* here.

I hope so. He can't just abandon it, so he had to hang around until it was freed. He features in a couple of the photos and seems quite calm.

New footage emerges of Tesco lorry that was stuck for 15 hours being rescued

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/new-footage-emerges-tesc...

And my favourite quote:

Quote:

The driver became stuck after he decided to turn right down Brook Hill, but he says that he could have made the corner if a car hadn't been parked right on the corner as this limited his turning arc.

which surely translates as "I thought I wouldn't be able to do it, but thought I'd try anyway cos I'm a professional driver, innit"...

You have to wonder, watching the video, what idiot thought it was a good idea to take an articulated HGV down those streets...

I'm searching through the "rules" I have in my own mind for this thread and am flummoxed by this posting. Car crashes into...nothing at all, an empty beach, yet the idiot has still managed to overturn the wankpanzer.

He shouldn't drive there (on the footpath) either. The manoeuvre may have been misjudged, but the choice to drive on the pavement was entirely deliberate and unforced. Back to driving school.

Going too fast and turning too sharply.

4x4s aren't always that stable, high centre of gravity.

And that looks like quite a narrow one...

Nine hours!

//i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/article7073089.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_TescoLorry.jpg)

I like this description of it:

Quote:

This morning, this lorry driver left Avonmouth with a full load of groceries to be delivered to Tesco supermarkets around the Bristol area.

The driver found himself driving along Upper Cheltenham Place at around 7am, and decided to turn right down Brook Hill.

And that's where he remains.

I'm so tempted to go find it and tell the driver "You can't park that there!"

The article said lots of trucks are being driven through Montpelier to try and bypass the temporary traffic lights and road closure at the junction of Cheltenham Road and Ashley Road.  So we can probably blame the driver's satnav... (and the driver for not having an ounce of common sense - "Well, the computer said I could go this way").

Still, at least the punishment was proportionate and appropriate. Oh wait a minute...

Twitter thread has someone arguing that the lorry was 4.1m high but the ground was uneven so that's why it hit a 4.2m bridge.
