Live updates as car crashes into house in Stapleford
https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/live-updates-car-cra...
That'll teach 'em not to deliver those Christmas cards on time.
What was the fourth offence ?
"But officers, you've got the car, it's got a registered keeper, why are you saying you're making enquiries to find the owner? Drivers are always telling us cyclists that we should be registered like them so this doesn't happen. Understandably, the people in the car walked off, I imagine they were two brothers rushing to see their sick mother in hospital, as all drivers are.
Have we been mis-informed?"
Another one here for the cars being a PITA collection: 'Idiot’ driver causes mass evacuation of Odeon at BH2
‘AN IDIOT’ driver doing a ‘burnout’ in the underground car park of Bournemouth's central leisure complex saw cinema-goers evacuated from the Odeon on Tuesday night.

Yes. Owners gutted as they cannot now sit in a solution of each other's poo until repairs are complete.
Found another while visiting Norfolk:
Drunk student crashed [car] into hotel wall after drinking tequilas

it's the fault of the road markings if you dip into the comments

It seems to me that it's getting harder to rest easy in your bed if you live near a road and any sort of hazard, like a bend or a junction.
What's worse is that 3 months ago, the same thief nicked all their indicators, but no-one's noticed yet.
I naturally expected it to be a BMW or Audi, but I feel semi-vindicated by a NOxWagen
I got addicted to auctions with all the suspense and excitement after going once...
going twice...
But were any horses hurt? I gather that's the important matter, to all the good folk of the New Forest...
When did turning the heater on become a 'de-icing hack'?
Some freshly-minted wall repairs in the Google Street view watermarked from 2020. What a blight cars are on people's lives.
Not sure how much fish-eye there is here, but I don't see how drivers at 30 mph max can be expected to negotiate this safely while looking out for cyclists, the sun in theirs eyes, speed bumps ( article comment), and trying to ring Denny.
Glad to see the centuries-old protected castle lane still working well. Build it and they will come to no good!
White van man working as hard as ever to keep a roof over his head.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A car drove past a road closed sign and fell into a hole in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood.
Photos show the rear end of a car sticking out of a hole on Merrick Avenue.
Crews on scene said the road was closed while they were repairing it, but a driver went around the sign and the traffic cones and kept driving into the hole.
That's it, 4 1/2 lines - concise much? Shouldn't there at least be a quote from Bob Strongweather the local fire chief, and a passer-by with a Bill Bryson made-up name like Nancy Stronkwaller?
I was assuming 'unift through drink' and '[unfit through] drugs' were separate offences.
There's a cheque in the post.
Which interestingly highlighted this, I suppose it had to happen eventually, at least it was the driver stuck not the car for once... https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/19843110.driver-gets-stuck-new-wh...
I have no idea how anyone could blame road marking for this. Its a roundabout. You can't go straight in but that doesn't excuse driving through a hedge into a house
Only because they'd already sold their indicator stalks to pay for Christmas...
The good burghers of the New Forest are no different to any other lot of drivers, despite this well-known hazard.
Any police speed enforcement seems to be like shooting fish in a barrel.
Heard in a Southampton cafe : I was trying to go a car meet and all there was was a load of people getting groceries.
Everything is a hack now. It's as annoying as Moneysavingexpert describing any discount code they are given as "blagged"
Well I suspect the road you are showing the Google cam from might be the main culprit, cars can come down there "quickly" and when it's dark there are no street lights around, limited light from houses, probably very few cars to give you a clue theres a road junction approaching and suddenly find a brick wall ahead of them.
Because I dont see how if you are on the B1078 going round that corner you end up hitting those brick walls at all, into the fence yes as that also looks notably newer in bits.
But whilst the road surface isnt billiard table smooth, there are worse bits on that road, and it can be a bit of a sketchy corner on a bike as the line you want to take to deter being overtaken on it, and yes that happens, isnt great it's not what I'd call a difficult corner to drive. As I say cycling it is a bit different it's always a bit fraught with traffic around you as they MGIF, so you can see how maybe some drivers do cause problems for themselves, but then we cyclists arent the ones crashing into the walls.
It's 'unfit to drive through drink or drugs'
The fourth offence would have been 'fail to report an RTC', which is often coupled with 'fail to stop'.
Although the article says one of the contractors moved the car with no issues.
Some people just cannot drive safely!
What's the market for used BMW indicator stalks? Do they fit other marques?
So back to it being the road's fault again, then? Self driving cars that are too quick?
Life hack - cold start? why risk idling your engine for 10 minutes, try this amazing product: de-icer spray! We've blagged 15% off at your local Motaparts store. Add this ice scraper, a free giveaway when you buy 20 litres of fuel...
The offence in law may be a single one of being unfit to drive through drink or drugs, but that doesn't mean that they couldn't have been charged separately with being unfit through drink and being unfit through drugs. Just like if you stole three bikes you'd be charged with three counts of theft.
Oh, wait... in that case you'd be charged with no counts... hang on... what was the point I was making again...?
