Helmet saved my life - the next step forward?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-63608090

Police motorcyclist saved by inflatable clothing. How long before not wearing something similar, possibly in hi-viz and bearing a unique identity plate, is seen as a self inflicted failure of cyclists to protect themselves?

This news outlet Faceooked this story locally, which give me the none too joyous task of pushing back on the they should have helmet and hi viz comments from my fellow villagers oh, and use the cycle path (all 18" of it - easily rubbished with a photo).

I don't know if this poor man had a helmet or not, but it does now appears no car involved - potentially the 1 in 100 situations where it might have made a difference.

The Hovding cycling airbags sort of look like you're being attacked by a critter from a sci-fi movie, if that helps?

When storing squirrels, I find it best to keep them segregated as the greys tend to bully the reds

What I was thinking in general but startling in the particular.

I'm unable to stop thinking of obvious puns so I'll just ... not. It's clearly not what they would have wanted.
