Lap the Lough is back for 2012 on 26 August

2,000 riders expected for loop of Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland; 10% off entry and 20% off ferries for road.cc readers

If you haven't sorted yourself a riding challenge for the last bank holiday in August then how about a lap of the largest lake in the British Isles? Lap the Lough sets off from Peatlands Park near Belfast on Sunday 26 August for a 130km lap of Lough Neagh and this year they're expecting up to 2,000 cyclists to take to the roads.

It's anticlockwise this year, so left turns round the Lough, and there's stops every 20 miles or so to keep you topped up. Your entry fee includes the usual sportive add-ons - all the food along the way plus a fully signed route, outriders, mechanics and the like - and you get a nice cap thrown in too. And you can get 10% off with road.cc too. Just use code RoadLTL to get your discount.

That's not the only discount on offer over the weekend. The organisers have teamed up with Stena Line ferries too, to offer a 20% discount on all crossings for participants over the weekend. All crossings on the operator's Holyhead, Liverpool, Fishguard and Cairnryan routes between 25 and 28 August are eligible for the discount. Use the code lap2012 for that discount. If you're happy to camp then there's free camping on site, if you'd prefer a few more home comforts then you can get another discount of 10% off a stay at the Ramada Encore hotel in Belfast - use 'lap the lough' as your code for that one.

For more info on the ride, or to sign up, head over to www.lapthelough.org. Registration closes on 31 July, or when the ride is full, whichever comes first.
