The Aldi Specialbuys cycling sales have become popular with cost-conscious cyclists over the years and there's another chance to grab a bargain on 28th September in stores and online. To give you an idea of what you can expect in this latest sale, here’s an overview.
With the evenings drawing in now is a good time to consider moving some of your cycle training to the safety of indoors, and with six levels of resistance adjustment and a secure but foldable base, this looks a good option for anyone making the first steps into the world of indoor suffering. Aldi will be offering a reasonably priced Indoor Bike Trainer (£49.99).
If you hate the idea of indoor cycling and are determined to keep pedalling outside, then you might want to check out the Front & Rear LED Bike Lights (£14.99) or High-Performance Bike Lights (£12.99) that will be available. Lights have improved hugely over the years with advances in LED and battery technology, and while you can spend a fortune on the very best lights, there are also some bargains to be had.
If you want to record your ride, whether for recording close passes (hopefully you’ll have none of those) or just showing your friends and family the highlights of your ride, the Camera and Bike Light (£39.99) does all that as well as combining an integrated rear light. There’s 8GB of memory which should be sufficient for recording most of the action.
Let’s move onto cycle clothing. Now, here at road.cc, we’ve tested a lot of Aldi clothing in the past couple of years and been consistently impressed, not just at the low prices, but also the level of performance on offer and the startlingly good value for money, which must consider how well something performs its primary function.
For the upcoming colder months Aldi has some new jackets, tights, gloves, overshoes and more.
The Cycling Rain Jacket (£19.99) and Winter Cycling Jacket (£16.99) are available in a range of sizes for men and women. The Cycling Tights (£13.99) are made from a wind blocking fabric on the front-facing panels, with visibility boosted by the addition of reflective details in key areas. Combine with Heavy Duty Overshoes (£14.99) to (hopefully) keep your lower body dry and warm on the cold and wet days that will be a more regular occurrence in the coming months.
Keeping your hands dry in the rain is a tricky business, and neoprene is a useful defendant against the moisture. The Neoprene Cycling Gloves cost £9.99. Accessorise your cycling wardrobe with Sports Leg/Arm Warmers (£8.99) which are really good for extending your summer clothing into the colder autumn months. There are Ergonomic Cycling Socks (£2.99) for rounding out your new outfit. An ideal option for short commutes or hopping on a rental bike with normal clothes, the Waterproof Over-Trousers (£14.99) should keep the road spray and rain at bay.
Complete the look with the breathable Neoprene Cycling Gloves (£9.99), Sports Leg/Arm Warmers (£8.99) and Ergonomic Cycling Socks (£2.99) – they’re just the thing for those facing a cold commute.
Over the last ten or so years Merino wool has gained huge popularity with cyclists, it’s soft, insulating and never pongs, but it can often be quite pricey. Not so with the new Merino range from Aldi. The Cycling Wind Jersey with Merino (£19.99) and Merino Sports Base Layer (£16.99) plus hats and arm and neck warmers (£5.99) are made from high-quality Merino wool for a bit of luxurious comfort this winter.
Once you’ve done a ride, it’s important to give your bike a bit of TLC. Muc-Off (£3.49) cleaner and Bike Maintenance Spray (£1.99) are better cleaning products than washing liquid and will clean and protect your bike.
For storing your bike check out the Floor Bike Stand (£14.99) and compact Mini Bike Stand (£14.99), ideal for those short on space. Finally, tuck your bike up at night with the Bike Cover (£9.99).
Like the sound of all that? Make sure to set a reminder on your calendar for 28th September and either head online to your nearest Aldi store to grab a Specialbuys bargain before they undoubtedly sell out. More at www.aldi.co.uk/c/specialbuys

Their merino baselayer isn't 100% wool, but you can tumble dry it and mine is as good as new after 3 years.
Ive one f their winter jackets and it wasn't bad for the money, but the sleeves were a bit short.
Gloves and socks are disposable.
The version they're selling this time _is_ 100% merino wool. No tumble drying allowed. I've worn mine once so far, in the rain, and it's been good.
I only recently bought the Fly6 and Fly12 combination so it's a bit of a bummer to see this. Aldi have already had rebadged Moon lights not to mention selling Garmin GPS at prices well below online sellers. This won't be a copy and will be coming from the same factory as it looks exactly the same and who knows perhaps Cycliq are even in on the deal?
From comments on the road.cc Facebook page, Cycliq are not in on the deal, and are not happy about the copying.

The base layers I have worn and worn. Cannot recommend those highly enough by the way.
good timing, as i was about to build a bike rack, as i keep falling over the bikes in my shed.
In past, I've had both the original Moon lozenge shaped lights and bought Aldi equivalents for the kids. The only detectable difference was that the Aldi versions appeared to be made of a more brittle plastic. However, they've outlasted the Moons in use.
Lots of comments about copies, rip off designs
I would have thought that Aldi have gone to the same people who manufacture the lights for Leyzene and Cyclic and said we'd like a gazillion of these and a gazillion of those for our next cycling promotion.
Said suppliers said thanks very much, they'll be ready for September.
I don't think a big organisation like Aldi is going to be in the business of selling copy protected stuff.
Their buying power keeps the prices low and as you'd expect most of this stuff is made in the Far East.
Well yes but it's still cynical and I dislike when a big wallowing retailer like Aldi can shit all over the little guys who innovate. We consumers love a bargain so we snap it up. What a shame.
Thanks
https://www.aldi.co.uk/specialbuys/about-our-specialbuys/cycling has "Look out for our next Cycling Events" but no details yet. https://www.aldi.co.uk/c/specialbuys/sports-and-leisure/cycling doesn't list the new stuff.
Cheers clubs - should really have worked that out.
Mr Chrisp - back in the day Aldi was very much buy cheap buy twice but as bender above states, the moon rip offs were awesome - £10 a pop and lumen, build quality et al was certainly as good as the moons...
Last year's Aldi moon clones were so close I suspect they were at least made in the same place. Mine are still going strong.
I wonder if they've tapped up Cycliq for a cheaper copy?
None of the above is online yet. I'd expect it to be 28th...their thermal cycling leggings are good although last years xl was tighter than 2015 L so be careful with the sizing. Lights are good
I was just about to buy the Cycliq until I saw this.
Does anyone know if the Aldi one has the overwriting feature of the Cycliq one, so that you don't have to keep deleting files?
If not, I'd rather pay more.
total Fly6 rip off (great product btw) - i'd expect it to die after the first cold wet month of riding.
Jeez that is such a blatant rip off of the cycliq light.
As is the twin CREE front light to the Lezyne MicroDrive, and the light sets in the previous specialbuy were carbon copies of Lezyne Zectos (I got two sets and upgraded the lights on my kids' bikes with them).

I bought some lights at the begining of year and they were exactly the same as some Moon lights whcih are being sold from many online bike shops. £6 from Aldi version, or £25 from CRC for the Moon version.
Is there anything on their website yet? I can't see it.
Tempted to buy one of the those lights/cameras and possibly the mini-bike stand, but I can't see any photos.
How early do they normally come online - at the cycle show that Sunday
The 28th is a Thursday I believe...
Wonder how much of it will be left once I get there after work on thursday week. Slim pickings usually!
Quite like the idea of the floor bike stand, as I'm having a Asgard metal bike shed delivered next week, and it'll be ideal to keep the bikes upright and not leaning on each other.
You can order most of these offers online now, saves the usual fight in the Aldi shops. You're usually restricted to the number of the same item.
Can you? I can't find them on the website. Can you post a link?
I think he means "these days Aldi generally have offers online as well as in the store", not "these specific offers are already online".
It'll probably be https://www.aldi.co.uk/c/specialbuys/dates/2017-09-28, but there's nothing there yet.
Watch https://www.aldi.co.uk/c/specialbuys/specialbuysdates. If it follows the usual pattern, expect the 28th's offers to go up on the 21st.

Sorry I'm an old hand at Aldi online.
Yes, the cycling stuff will be put on their site later this week, usually the week before it's available in store.
"Lights have gotten really good in recent years..."
Gotten? Hot dang! I was thinkin' we was livin' in Englandland!
That's Ingurland, provincial peasant.
My Aldi winter jacket was the best cycling jacket I ever owned until I fell off and destroyed it. Their USB lights are excellent also for the price.
