For the past 80 years Boston Wheelers Cycling Club has been a community-based club promoting all levels of cycling in the town and throughout the region. This year we’re riding for Sport Relief 2014.
On Friday 21st March a group of Wheelers will set off on an epic ride – the challenge for each is to cycle 300 miles of the county’s roads within 24 hours. That’s the equivalent of cycling from Boston to Aberdeen, or to Brighton and back in a day! Basically, it’s the Festive 500 – with no sleeps.
The route will take us to all four corners of the county, from the windswept Fens to the heights of the Wolds, and to many of the county’s towns in between. It’s a fully supported ride – there’ll be a van to carry your spares and other essentials to keep you on the bike for 24 hours.
We’re aiming to have a core of at least 10 members as well as others riding with us on the full 300 mile ride.
We’d love to include as many Wheelers and local club riders as possible in this. While raising money for Sport Relief we’ll also be raising awareness of the club and cycling throughout the town and the county.
While some riders will set out to complete to full 300 miles, we realize that not everyone can commit the time required for this, so there’s also an opportunity for everyone to get involved by riding a shorter distance through joining us at any point along our route. We need your support!
Here’s the deal: to be part of the full BW300 each participating rider needs to commit to raising a minimum of £100. For those joining to ride a shorter distance there’s no minimum, they can simply direct their sponsors to the BW300’s Sport Relief giving page ( http://m.virginmoneygiving.com/mt/uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-we... ). All funds raised will be donated to Sport Relief 2014.
To find out more and to join extended BW300 training rides (it’s a great way to lay down some solid winter base miles too) contact Alan Sharpe on 07534 405123.
Poor decision for Eurosport to repeatedly show the crash before knowing the outcome. Not cool.
What do we want?...
In a perfect world, we'd have a measure of how easily distracted someone is, as part of their driving test....
These products are nothing but ridiculously expensive and superfluous, and they bring nothing but bragging rights....
As a bystander in all this, it seems to me that the only person trying to win imaginary internet points in this is you....
How does Mr Lucy tell you he's a bit of an arsehole without telling you he's a bit of an arsehole?
Of course they are, and not so different. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09B662CDN?crid=34M42BETAMFT0&th=1 The bugger's got four versions up now!
At least the van driver was nowhere near the stationary cyclist.
The BMX racers are also no longer being supported. Kye Whyte said he's lost his GT sponsorship. It also looks like GT will no longer make BMX bikes.
