The Henley Highwayman is an epic ride into the Chiltern Hills! Starting and finishing in the market place in centre of Henley, right outside the town hall, there are full mid and sprint options of 182, 120 and 62km to test your legs. These were the badlands back in the days of the Highwaymen, who hid out in these hills to rob the unwary, but there will be no hiding place on event day!
The Chilterns climb, drop and weave unrelentingly; every minute against the clock will be hard earned! This is not an out and out suffer-fest though, there is plenty to enjoy here too. The ride will be run to a sportive format, on open roads through some of the most beautiful English countryside! It’s a grand challenge with a magnificent backdrop! Plus you get full on the road support, with multiple support and feed stations, roving mechanical support vehicles and all the atmosphere of the town centre start and finish (the full route also features a twin loop format that includes a town centre pass through where the crowds will spur you on for your second circuit!).
Starting from the town hall with a closed road lead out to the event base at Swiss Farm, the route takes you off road and climbs the track high over No Man's Hill, where the highwaymen used to look down on the river, watch the boats coming into Henley and plan their audacious robberies!
