Is this ride for me?
Cycle regularly but want to take it up a level? Looking for a personal challenge? Want to test your legs on some hillier climbs? The Big Belter is for you. Pedal for Scotland’s sportive is designed for riders who want to really push themselves, serious roadies who want a serious challenge and are prepared to put the time in to prepare for it.
Why should I take part?
To conquer the century ride on quiet roads and steep hills, where you can challenge yourself to the next level. You’ll finish alongside all the other riders taking part in Pedal for Scotland so you’ll get to share the buzz of completing Scotland’s bike event.
If you’d like to, this is a great event to fundraise for a cause you care about.
What can I expect?
An early start in Glasgow Green, with on-site mechanical support should you need any last-minute maintenance. You’ll head off on a well signed route, with the first 20 miles on closed roads, encounter some steep climbs and challenging descents all the while enjoying the beautiful Scottish views.
START: Glasgow Green from 06:45am - 7:00am
FINISH: Edinburgh by 4:00pm
ROUTE (subject to change): 100 miles - very challenging with steep climbs
ENTRY*: £51 entry; £43 concession
GOLD ENTRY*: £63 entry; £55 concession
Concessions - for those aged under 16, over 60 or in full-time education.
EVENT TRANSPORT*: £20 - for you and your bike from Edinburgh to Glasgow in the morning for the start, or later in the day back to Glasgow once you've finished.

You joke, but it is actually possible to spend >£200 per shoe... (e.g. Lake CX403 - £450 per pair; Bont Vaypor S Plus - £445.95 per pair).
Or be consistent and make it read: "A 2023 study from the US also found that SUVs are causing more BICYCLE injuries..." ...
I have to agree with Lance. I avoid straight roads where I can, but if I cannot, I remain at high alert of vehicles approaching from behind....
