The Rotary Club of Redmond, WA, has announced that registration for its annual fundraising mountain bike ride is now underway. The ride, slated for Saturday, January 27, 2024, is a traditional ride held on the "stinkiest" weather day of the year. Starting and ending at Redmond City Hall in 2024, the 20-mile ride winds its way north on the Sammamish River Trail to the Tolt Pipeline Trail where riders will ascend Heart Attack Hill (by riding or walking). The trail goes through Redmond Ridge and into the Redmond Watershed Preserve on the Power Line Trail, through Farrell-McWhirter Farm Park before heading back to the Sammamish River Trail and Redmond City Hall. There is fun and camaraderie along the way, including traditional hot potatoes and hot sauce at the SAG stop hosted by Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center in Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park. Back at Redmond City Hall, riders will be treated to a beverage of choice, lunch from some of the area's most popular food trucks, a silent auction, and a drawing. Stinky Spoke is a "poker ride" where riders select a playing card at the four SAG stops and the finish line to amass the best poker hands. Prizes are awarded to the top poker hands and a prize drawing is held for those hands that didn't compete. Proceeds from the event are awarded by Redmond Rotary to local charitable organizations, such as Harvest Against Hunger, Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, and Hopelink. Rotary also helps fund international water and sanitation projects with other partners, including World Vision and Rotary International. Programs at Redmond High School, including scholarships, the school's Interact Club, and Students of the Month recognition are also supported through funds raised during the ride. Look, I'm glad the bus is ok, but the question all cyclists are concerned with is: is the bike OK?
I think the main reason is "we have to so you should too".
