Woolston resident told he can't park on his driveway
In June, Ed was sent a letter by roads contractor, Balfour Beatty, stating that he was committing an offence under Section 184 of the Highways Act in gaining access to his property without a properly constructed dropped kerb.
He said he understood and accepted the law - but criticised the company for pursuing this issue considering the state of the roads.
The pensioner said: “As I worked on the highways for 40 years I do understand that by going over a kerb is against the law – so does that mean every driver in the city who parks on the pavement will also be penalised?
“In a city riddled with defects and potholes, it seems Balfour Beatty have time to identify this sort of thing when areas are crying out for repair.
“Surely every driver that parks on a kerb in Southampton can expect the same letter as I received?”
Mr Fisher is now forced to park his car on the road, leaving his driveway empty.

Parking tickets are a war tactic the state uses to attack the working class.

Its actually a benefit for them and not a problem but some drivers will see it that way (a problem) Speed Limiters (ISA). Whislt it legally is only applicable to cars sold in the EU, its believed that manufactures are unlikely to make derestricted cars specifically for the UK. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/103530/speed-limiters-now-required-al...

Free parking at Somerset car parks to end in controversial plans
Controversial plans being put to the public
At a council scrutiny panel in March, Shaun Hughes (Midsomer Norton North, Independent) said that Midsomer Norton did not have the same air quality problem as Bath. He added: “In Midsomer Norton, a lot of our residents can’t afford an electric car. They can’t afford the latest fuel efficient vehicles. Some of them have to drive a 20-year-old diesel Astra.
“They don’t want to; that’s what they have to drive to be able to get around to do their job — and you’re penalising them.”
Ms Rigby said: “A lot of people who are very low income have no vehicle whatsoever and they are breathing in other people’s pollution. I think it's fair that we protect those people as well.”

PS I took the BANES parking charges survey - they seemed to assume you were a driver - actually they're some way down the list, as they are with 20 mph consultations. I did wonder whether the system would prevent me from taking it repeatedly - drivers are obsessed enough to do this as I suspect has happened with Poole Park and 20 mph in Southampton. Then you never hear the last of it, of course.
Bristol Airport hike drop-off fees to eye-watering amount
So-called "kiss and fly" charges are even more expensive
RAC senior policy officer Rod Dennis expressed his frustration, stating: "It's depressing, if perhaps unsurprising given what's happened in the past, to see seven airports have hiked their drop-off charges once again this year. To have to pay £5, £6 or even £7 for the briefest of stops to simply open the boot and take some luggage out for a friend or loved one is bordering on the ridiculous."

Catastrophising again, you end up with a mosaic of speed limits then then "it will confuse drivers" (when doesn't it?)

Fuming man wows never to return after being stung by parking fine
He said: “I was disgusted when I opened the letter. You don’t expect this sort of thing in Glastonbury where everything is so calm and relaxed, it is so heavy-handed and run by a private company as well. I spend a lot of time in London, you expect this sort of thing there but not in Glastonbury, it is so unfriendly,” he said.

I can understand your annoyance but I have seen mobility scooter rider's using the road when there is a perfectly good pavement they can use. Recently one coming down Ross Road holding up traffic and a empty pavement.

Devon residents 'trapped' by roadwork traffic hell
A quarter mile journey is taking motorists an hour to complete
One Ogwell resident has written to Devon Highways to vent his "disgust and frustration" at the three-week closure. He says: "The current road closures have been implemented with absolutely no consideration for the residents of Ogwell, Denbury, and Ipplepen, who now face being effectively trapped or enduring an hour-long trip to travel just 0.25 miles.

From a local (to me) article on a man named Dominick Clark being sentenced for a street racing crash, we have, I believe, the undisputed champion of manipulating words to remove the agency from drivers.
"According to preliminary information from officers, two cars were allegedly drag racing during the incident and one of the cars then tried to flee the scene with Clark behind the wheel."
I'm sure poor Dominick was holding onto the wheel for dear life as his car fled the scene!
