Road to Nowhere: Spoof cycling film titles hit the Twitterverse

Those of you who use the social networking site, Twitter – and if you do, we hope you follow @roadcc – will be aware of hashtags.

For those of you who aren’t yet ‘tweeting’ – using Twitter to send messages of 140 characters or fewer – hashtags help Twitter users track trends, and aid them in keeping track of posts on specific subjects.

Sometimes, this trend tracking leads to raising awareness of serious issues– last month, the power of Twitter users rendered London law firm Carter Ruck’s super-injunction on the Trafigura case useless – and sometimes it’s entirely trivial.

We think you can guess where road.cc is going with this one.

So, on our travels around the Twitterverse yesterday afternoon, we discovered that some of our favourite Twitter users were talking about cycling films. Not ones that have been made, but those that for a misplaced word or letter in the title should be movies about bikes – and all with the hashtag #bikemovies.

Here’s 20 of the best. Forgive us for not crediting the people who originally thought of them – most have been retweeted too many times to discover the original author – although we do think that Cath Wiggins, wife of Bradley summed it up for cycling widows everywhere when she Tweeted the one word, ‘Grease”. And if you can think of any better ones, please let us know.
