Neither cyclist was wearing a helmet, and yet they survived, nor any of these new Trek daytime lights, or hi-viz, or...
It's all down to god.
If you've ever seen that series Car Crash TV with endless dashcam footage of prangs on Russian roads you realise this is everyday stuff over there.
Russians are dead hard aren't they? I bet they were thinking "Right. Nothing broken? Ok. Now let's see what's fallen off the back of this lorry then..'

Crickey!
YouTube is full of videos of Russian truck drivers making stupid mistakes, usually not involving cyclists. I'd hazard a guess that they work stupidly long hours due to crap pay, demands of schedules and very little enforcement of driving hours regs (whatever those might be in Russia). And, of course, vodka.
....or not reading the road.
Jeez, I hope that cyclist bought a lottery ticket on the way home, along with some new pants.
Amazing video of where 'reading the road ahead' goes drastically wrong.
