Transport for London (TfL) has announced that grants of up to £10,000 will be available for cycling projects as part of a new scheme called Cycling Grants London. TfL suggests that community organisations such as residents' associations, charities and youth groups could apply to fund initiatives such as cycle training, bike maintenance and guided rides.
Applications are now open and will close on September 21 (at 10am). Organisations can submit up to three applications in the 2015 Cycling Grants London funding round.
Ben Plowden, TfL's Director of Surface Strategy and Planning, said:
“London is experiencing phenomenal growth in cycling, and we are committed to helping everyone learn how to cycle safely through our Cycling Grants London programme. Working with Groundwork we hope that community groups will take up the challenge and develop projects that will hone skills of infrequent riders and those new to cycling.”
To be eligible for the scheme, an organisation must operate within Greater London and be a community organisation, charity, not for profit organisation, community interest company or social enterprise.
Projects that are suitable for funding are those that will encourage people to cycle more frequently and more safely for transport or leisure. TfL is particularly keen to see projects which will encourage those who are new to cycling or who currently cycle infrequently.
New projects can apply for up to £10,000 in funding over a three year period, while projects that have previously received cycling grants will be eligible for top-up grants of up to £3,000 to help them continue.

How much is available in total ?
As going by numerous comments on this site cycling in london is a nightmare so wouldn't that money be better spent on infrastructure first which ultimately makes roads safer and therefore more attractive.
Its like building a sandcastle on the beach hoping the tide doesn't come in.
Waste of money.
Absolutely not a waste of money.
My business was awarded a £1000 grant which we used to purchase a company bicycle (utilised by many of the staff) a work station for those already with bicycles, maintenance checks on said bicycles and breakfast vouchers as an incentive for those who cycle in to work when it's bucketing down.
Makes for a happier team and a more productive work force for starters.
