We've covered plenty of helmet camera footage here on road.cc involving cyclists being assaulted by other road users, but here's something different - a cyclist slapping a moped rider as the pair pass each other on a cycle path.
The incident took place in Stockholm, Sweden and the video was uploaded to the website LiveLeak last Wednesday by the moped rider, where it has been viewed more than 60,000 times and attracted around 900 comments.
After sending the moped rider crashing to the ground, the cyclist protests his innocence as a passer-by berates him, saying, "You can't just punch people!"
"I didn't punch him, absolutely not!" he replies, according to the subtitles.
A punch or a slap, semantics aside the footage clearly shows the cyclist raising his left arm to hit the moped rider as the pair approach one another from opposite directions.
The moped rider explained in his post that he was legally entitled to be on the shared-use path, saying: "The lane to the right is actually for pedestrians, while the lane to the left is for bicycles/mopeds going both directions."
The presence of mopeds on paths primarily meant for bicycles is often a source of tension between users of both types of two-wheelers due to the typically higher speeds mopeds travel at, the noise they make and the fumes they emit.
A law currently going though the Dutch parliament will allow municipalities to ban mopeds from cycle paths, with Amsterdam, where use of the powered vehicles has boomed in recent years, among cities planning to do so.

Moped was doing nothing illegal, Cyclust knocks him off. Only on this forum would no-one condemn the cycliusts actions. You people are the reason I despise most folk on forums and bikes.
Does it need to be said? Obviously that's not acceptable behavior on the cyclist's part. The surprising thing is that powered vehicles are allowed to ride there.
Just to be clear, is it most folk on forums AND most folk on bikes, or most folk on (forums AND bikes)? If the latter, that's a pretty niche hate-group you have.
Either the video was speeded up, or the moped rider was going way too fast for the conditions. Is there a speed limit on shared use paths in Sweden?
Clearly the moped rider was riding at a sensible speed, the cyclist was so out of order it just begs belief. If you think this is acceptable behavior then you must agree pedestrians have the right to slap 'speeding' cyclists willy-nilly....
In the netherlands there are 2 speeds of moped`s: Blue number plates go to 35 kph (no helmet required - allowed on the cyclingpath) yellow numberplates 50 kph (helmet required - required to be on the open roads).
There is talk to ban the blue number plates to the open roads also as the majority is performance enhanced anyway going up to 50 kph. the problem is multiple speeds on the cyclingpath, which causes dangerous situations.
Also cycling paths and pedestrians don`t mix that well and need to be seperated better, germany has a lot of that in towns.
On the subject: don`t understand what got into the cyclist, even if the moped wouldn`t be where he was allowed to be: playing vigilante is not the way to go in traffic.
Wait a second...Bad things happen in Scandinavia too??
Its like discovering Santa isn't real.
Isn't he? Who's going to put a shiny new Croix de Fer under the tree for me, then?
why is it that the Croix de Fer is held out at the apogee of cycledom on this website? It's a bike I've never contemplated riding.
nothing wrong with a croix de fer.

As with many facets of seventh level cycling sir, if you need to ask the question you will never understand the answer.
Mopeds sharing space with pedestrians? That's just dumb. But there's no need for that.
Muppets riding mopeds and off road motorbikes on cycle lanes - Probably coming to cycle lanes near you in the near future.
What happens in other European countries eventually gets picked up by our own home-grown muppets too. There are quite a few trails where I live that are well used by cyclists, walkers and horse riders. It's only a matter of time before the moped users think they have every right to use them too - scaring the horses and old folks in the process.
Looked like very close pass on the cyclists by the mope rider just before it happened. I'm surprised mopeds would be allowed on a share use path like that.
Anyway, isn't the correct response to this to call the moped rider a vigilante and anyway some moped riders just red light, blar, blar, blar..... Was he wearing hi viz ?
We were surprised by mopeds travelling significantly faster on narrow paths compared to cycles when we had a holiday there last year. Good to see that the Dutch will consider banning these mopeds
I nearly got taken out by a moped cutting a blind corner on a cycle-path in the Netherlands. I'm surprised mopeds are allowed on cycle paths.
There is a move to prevent mopeds from using cycle paths in the Netherlands for this very reason. It will be rolled out in stages.
I've been nearly taken out by cyclists cutting blind corners on cycle-paths. I'm surprised bicycles are allowed on cycle paths...
Seriously, there's a dangerous level of aggression and vigilante-ism in way too many people; whether they're on foot, on a bike, moped, motorbike or driving a bus. Even if the bloody moped is not allowed on the path it doesn't give you the right to punch him as he passes.
