Fleche du Sud stage cancelled after crash leaves rider in coma

Air ambulance summoned as 14 cyclists involved in crash on descent in Luxembourg race

Today’s Stage 3 of the UCI Europe Tour race the Fleche du Sud in Luxembourg has been cancelled after a serious crash involving a number of riders, one of whom is reported to be in a coma.

According to Wort.lu, the crash happened on a descent 9 kilometres into the 152.1 kilometre stage from Redange to Warken with a number of riders crashing into a wall.

Several ambulances as well as an Air Rescue helicopter attended the scene. According to a tweet from 5 Minutes Lux, 14 riders were injured.

Police escorted the riders not involved in the crash back to the start after organisers decided to cancel the stage.
