Our regular feature highlighting close passes caught on camera takes a trip to New York State today, where a cyclist endured a close pass by a UPS Freight 18-wheeler back in 2015.
“This UPS Driver decided to start honking and then swerve in to me on the road,” writes the video uploader, Mike. “And then he has the audacity to say there's a side walk right there, and then threatens me by saying have fun seeing St Peter.”
After pointing out that cyclists have every right to be on the road, he adds: “This UPS driver should not have a job driving an 18-wheeler if he is going to use it as a weapon and does not know the laws of the state that he is in.”
Mike reported the incident to UPS Freight who told him: "The issue is being handled and addressed."
Mike also filed a complaint against his commercial driver’s licence and was told that they would look at the video and decide if his licence should be revoked.
Over the years, road.cc has reported on literally hundreds of close passes and near misses involving badly driven vehicles from every corner of the country – so many, in fact, that we’ve decided to turn the phenomenon into a regular feature on the site. One day hopefully we will run out of close passes and near misses to report on – but until that happy day arrives, Near Miss of the Day will keep rolling on.
If you’ve caught on camera a close encounter of the uncomfortable kind with another road user that you’d like to share with the wider cycling community please send it to us at info [at] road.cc or contact us via the road.cc Facebook page. Please also let us know where it took place and whether or not your local police force took any action.

Has Katie Hopkins got a job at Road CC as a guest editor? Only asking because this clickbait crap is definitely Daily Mail stylie.

Looks like we're stuck with this shit indefinitely then.
Christ, our regular clickba....sorry, feature, is now doing almost 2 year old clips from the US. Chapeau.
I have another suggestion for the young cyclist fella:Stop riding roads like these, i did years ago,and try less crowded ones even if they are longer. There are monsters out there that use four lane roads like these and they all have a bad attitude behind their fortress wheel. You saw that the idiot had a wile lane cleared to avoid the lane that the cyclist had ocupied but he choose to use the one that will go close to the bike, yeah, to show whoo's the boss out there. well that short. like we say in my country, you are running naked in a cucumber growing field...
It was not an option as this is the road my work is on and the other road that I could take is the main road for the Airport. .
Interesting point is that in 5 years of riding this route this is the first time anything like this happened.
UPS was ridiculously more expensive when I asked a quote for an overseas delivery compared to standard mail. This video was the final nail on the coffin I guess.
Regardless of the threat to another's life, how stupid are these idiots that they drive like this and shout abuse at others while driving an easily identified company truck, complete with licence plate? Not really worth risking your livelihood for angrily making a pathetic non-point to a cyclist, just becuase you're pissed off with how your life has turned out, is it?
What they said.
Never got a response from from the NYSDMV But that is to be expected. UPS driver was put in for Re-Training and had to drive around with another person for 3 months. I also got a letter of apolpogy from UPS.

So what happened?
As mentioned, they replied with "The issue is being handled and addressed." what usualy means fu*k off and die....
