Like this site? Help us to make it better.

team road.cc is about to grow and we're inviting you to be part of it, it's still free too!

Deals, discounts and free schwag are just some of the reasons to be part of our new and improved cycling club

If it’s too good to be true then it probably is, right? Well not this time especially if you happen to be one of the thousands of readers of this fine site about to be invited to join team road.cc, our very own cycling club on Monday September.

Ever since road.cc’s inception the plan was to have a cycling club running alongside the main site and back in 2015 that is exactly what happened.

Launched to a few hundred members it has steadily grown over the last two years and after plenty of playing about with the format we’re ready to go big, much bigger in fact and we believe much, much better too.

You really are getting something for nothing as well as it’s all completely free!

What are the benefits?

First up you'll gain access to the member's section of the website where you'll have exclusive access to all of the latest deals and discounts that we've mentioned below plus a separate news section where we can keep you updated with club events and the like.

The_Members_Bar..png

We've been speaking to various companies to see what they can offer our members and below is just a few of the ones we've arranged so far. Obviously the club isn't just about the freebies and discounts but we know it helps!

The best thing about having our own cycling club is getting to meet our members at various events and venues around the country, things like revolve24, a 24hr relay event around the challenging track that is Brands Hatch.

This weekend will see us have a team there for the third year running and you can take a look here to see who’s riding and how we are planning for the race.

We were also invited to Cyclone24 earlier this year to take on the boards at Manchester Velodrome in yet another 24hr relay event, we even walked away champions and hold the record for the most amount of laps!

We’ve recently teamed up with the guys at Southern Sportive and CX Sportive who are offering all of our members up to 30% off a range of their events like the Cotswold Edge sportive or if gravel is your thing there are the Gold Rush, CrossBones or Badlands GravelCross CX sportives.

It’s at events like these where we hope to exploit the social side of team road.cc by signing up on mass and to get out in the wilderness for a bit of a club run.

If you’re after a new bike or just want to try out a huge range of models then you need to get yourself along to one of our Bike LIVE demo days plus as a member you can save 15% off of the ticket price for yourself and your friends.

The first of the 2018 events are:

No ride is complete without a cake stop either so we’ve arranged discounts with a range of cafes across the country too. There is an interactive map showing each one in the member’s section so if you want to check it out you know what you have to do.

We also have various schwag giveaways from the office as well plus if racing is your thing we are also registered with British Cycling.

How does it work?

Qualifying for membership will be based on levels of interaction with the site and road.cc as a whole, the more you’re involved the more you will benefit.

Things like commenting on articles and posts for instance and having those comments liked will all count and add up.

Then there are our events, the Bike LIVE demo days or our rideouts that we’ll be continuing to roll out around the country. Register for one of these and that’s another tick in the box and a pat on the back.

The backroom IT bods have been tweaking the electronic gizmos to collect this information and right now we have a lot of you that qualify already but this is an ongoing concern so if you aren’t part of the first batch keep clicking and you’ll soon be enjoying life as a team road.cc member.

Keep an eye on your inbox!

Update: We originally said Wednesday 13 September for this, but some key people have fallen foul of the first round of winter sniffles and we've moved it back a few days. Sorry!

Since writing his first bike review for road.cc back in early 2009 senior product reviewer Stu has tested more than a thousand pieces of kit, and hundreds of bikes.

With an HND in mechanical engineering and previous roles as a CNC programmer/machinist, draughtsman and development engineer (working in new product design) Stu understands what it takes to bring a product to market. A mix of that knowledge combined with his love of road and gravel cycling puts him in the ideal position to put the latest kit through its paces.

He first made the switch to road cycling in 1999, primarily for fitness, but it didn’t take long for his competitive side to take over which led to around ten years as a time triallist and some pretty decent results. These days though riding is more about escapism, keeping the weight off and just enjoying the fact that he gets to ride the latest technology as part of his day job.

Beginning to think that the office has been struck by something more serious than the lurgy. Still nothing in inbox!

Has anyone tried clicking on the Member link on the menu?

I'm in (at least I get the 'welcome davel, road.cc member') as above, and I don't think I registered as a member previously....

The problem I can see as an occasional poster is that a number of the regular contributors to the forums show a distinctly unpleasant side to their character. Not sure I'd want to ride with some of them, given their online personas!

Any chance you might try some club runs or bike live events a little further west?  Like say, Oregon?   3

I really feel like this hasn't taken off yet, as much as I'd like to join the club runs they all seem to be announced during the week that they're on the Friday, which isn't much help. It's a cool idea but this re-launch really needs to be different to the status quo or I fear it will become ignored.
