Ed Sheeran breaks arm in bicycle crash, tour dates at risk

Singer-songwriter was reportedly knocked from his bike in London

Singer songwriter Ed Sheeran has broken his arm while cycling, witn a number of media outlets reporting that he was knocked from his bike while riding in London.

In a post to Instagram this morning, Sheeran showed his arm in a cast and said he would wait for medical advice.

The injury may well mean the cancellation of forthcoming  tour dates.

The 26-year-old is die to perform in Taiwan on Sunday, followed by dates elsewhere in the Far East and South East Asia over the next month.

In the second half of November, he is also due to play in India and Dubai.

Rumours of the bicycle being given an award for services to music, were unconfirmed today.

My cynical thought is that I'm glad its happened to someone popular, because maybe it will serve to highlight the plight of cyclists.

My second thought is that I wish Ed Sheeran no ill and hope he recovers well.

That's gonna be a seriously costly insurance claim for the perpetrator

Hmmm.  I've got a bedroom drawer that's seen more chords that Ed Sheeran.

One comment on their top comments page - "He probably ran a red light."

That the Mail exists gives me little hope for the human race.

You also missed “illegal” and “front brake”

The daily mail included two pictures of him on a chopper style bike without a front brake, and many seemed to think it’s illegal, but it probably had a saddle height of less than 635mm so it would be exempt. Of course there isn’t much point in trying to educate the DM readers.

'Think they own the road'
'Middle of the road'

'Holding up traffic'
'In the way'
'Menace'
'Charlie Alliston'

I wonder if he'll get the usual cycling related comments when the Daily Mail report it?

Most probably he will and it'll include some insults about his music also. I expect a few will ask why he was cycling since he can afford an expensive car. But then didn't he include a line about driving at 90 along country lanes? Coupled with him being a musician that would result in some insurance firms refusing his business.

Judging by recent cycling related news in London, he's lucky it was just his arm....

Why do you think that? I don't think cycling in London hasn't gotten any less safe in recent times - probably safer if anything.
