Police appeal after Reading cyclist is mugged for his bike

Police in Berkshire have launched an appeal for information after a cyclist was assaulted and had his bike stolen last week.

Thames Valley Police say the robbery happened at 7pm on the evening of Monday 20 November in Waverley Road at the junction with Beecham Road, Reading.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, stopped to let a car pass that had been following him closely.

However, three men got out of the vehicle and assaulted him, stealing his B'Twin black and yellow mountain bike and causing minor injuries.

Police have provided descriptions of two of the assailants. Both were described as a white males between 20 and 25 years of age and around 5 feet 10 inches tall. One was said to be of medium build with short dark hair and stubble.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Alan Pearcy said: “We are investigating this robbery and are appealing for anyone who might have information to come forward.

“We are specifically appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or was in the area at the time of this robbery to come forward to police.

"We believe that the offenders were driving a White Ford Focus with bright LED lights and that there was also another vehicle in the area at the time. This second vehicle was being blocked by the offenders when the offence was occurring."

He added: “If you think you may have any information please contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
