Froome crashed into a wall at 54kph while out on a training ride during the 8-day stage race which many Tour contenders use to test their form before the main event.
The 34 year old Briton took his hand of the handlebars to blow his nose when a gust of wind took his wheels out from under him and blew him into the wall; he broke his neck, femur, elbow, hip and ribs in the accident.

On Friday, the Team Ineos rider posted an update on his Twitter account sending support to his team mates who are riding the Tour this year.
He also said a quick hello to the team in a video call in which he assured them that he would be following every second of the action from his bed.
Speaking to Eurosport, Team Ineos sporting director Dave Brailsford confirmed the news that Froome, who would have been going for a record-equalling fifth Tour title, had left hospital.
"Chris has left hospital and was transferred home," he said.
"It's a big step for him. He's managed to put his feet on the floor for the first time in quite a long time.
"A few of the guys here have been to visit him and he's in remarkable spirits for the situation he's found himself in."

Usually you see a shot of the injured rider on a stretcher or something. Not trying to be nastily intrusive but we have seen so many shots of riders lying on the ground and there sometimes quite nasty looking injuries and we have seen plenty of bad crashes on film of pro riders so how come we got nothing even though we are told it was filmed . He was being filmed all the time . A Injured shot of Froome on the ground etc would be worth quite a bit to the photographer having that shot and a video the same “gold “ Something not quite right about that little bit of footage we got beforehand when he’s messing about with his jacket and looking unsteady as fuck ,looks like a set up to me for what’s supposed to have followed. He’s supposed to have hit a wall and yet I can’t see any scratches scrapes on his hands or face etc which he would have at that speed . Something is not quite right in my opinion . The photo does not add up to the seriousness of the crash . I don’t have any idea though why they would make this crash up . Has been a suggestion that he has been busted and the UCI came up with this to cover up the bust . That’s complete BS , You cover up the bust by not telling anyone . Simple . No need to go to fake crashes . I just don’t think this seems legit . I’m open to having my mind changed if anyone can convince that a crash at that speed into a brick wall would leave you unmarked .
That's what it's like when I phone in sick on a Monday morning
Does it matter where he lives? He is home with his family which no matter how much he earns or what he does for a living, is the most important thing after such a serious and life threatening incident.
Exactly, he's a true English sporting hero up there with Eoin Morgan, Ben Te'o, Kevin Pietersen, the Vunipola brothers and Ben Stokes.
Back home, in Monaco. I hope neighbours Lewis Hamilton and the ghost of Roger Moore pop around for a visit.
