Pogacar wins Vuelta Stage 8 as weather wreaks havoc in Andorra, Quintana moves into lead

Red jersey changes hands once more amid filthy weather in the Pyrenees

Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates, riding his first Grand Tour, has won Stage 8 of the Vuelta a Espana on a day when the race encountered filthy weather in Andorra, with torrential rain on the final climb.  Behind, Nairo Quintana of Movistar took second place on the summit finish at Alto Els Cortals d'Encamp, while his team-mate Alejandro Valverde was outsprinted for third place by Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic.

Quintana takes the race lead, but with Roglic one of the favourites for the individual time trial when racing resumes on Tuesday after tomorrow's rest day, the Colombian's stay in the red jersey is likely to be a short one.

Fulll report, result and reaction to follow.

If two race contenders crash on a gravel section, but there are no TV pictures to see it, does it influence the GC?
