Bespoked Bristol, Britain's own hand built bicycle show has just announced the exhibitor list for the eagerly awaited event which takes place on the 10th, 11th and 12th of June this year at the Paintworks in Bristol.
The even will showcase bike building talent from Britain and abroad and there will be a wide variety of different bike types on display from across the cycling spectrum from performance through to utility and with a heavy slug of handcrafted retro too.
Among the well known names that have already confirmed are Enigma, Condor and Brian Rourke Cycles. Enigma will be bringing their classically styled performance machines in both steel and titanium, while we can expect something similar from Brian Rourke too, he also makes an 853 steel singlespeed mountain bike so we might see that too, Condor are rumoured to be bringing their classic range of bikes including the always eye-catching Paris Galiber.
If retro steel-styling is your thing then you'll be well served with hand cut lugs and fancy cut outs and intricate detailing on display from Demon Frameworks, Feather Cycles and Fresh Tripe Bikes. Villiers Velo will be showing off their range of handbuilt touring, audax, randonneur and track machines. Utility with style is what Paper Bicycle are all about, while in a similar vein Milk Bikes will give a show debut to their new commuter bike. Having had a look at their bikes in our Bespoked Bristol taster gallery and bit of a shufty around their website we're looking forward to getting a closer look at some of Donhou Bicycle's work in the flesh - really like those one piece bar/stems
Dorset-based Hamoon Cycles will be showing off their steel creations, but as well as road bikes they also makes mountain bikes and 4X machines and their will be more handbuilt steel hardtails to see from 18 Bikes.
As well as showcasing British frame building talent Bespoked Bristol will some fine examples of what overseas framebuilders are making to, Tokyo Fixed will be showing examples of Japanese craftsmanship with some exquisitely made bikes from Tonic, the London bike shop is also promising to bring down a whole slew of other exotica from around the world too. Rock and Road will also be showing off some top of the tree examples of international frame building with bikes from Waterford, Gunnar and Intense.
Steel will be well represented in all its variety with builds in various grades and fans of titanium should be well catered for too by both Burls and Enigma.
There's no carbon builder in the show at the moment but Bespoked Bristol organiser Phil Taylor told us that could change – Phil's aim is to showcase the talents of frame builders working in all the materials currently available and interest has been so strong that he's already looking to expand the show to cope with demand.
As well as the finished products from some of the world's best frame builders and some up and coming talents, there also be live frame building every day at the show, courtesy of Downland Cycles who will also be offering the chance to win a place on one of their frame building workshops. It won't be just bikes either there will be handmade wheels from Just Riding Along and Strada plus boutique cycle clothing brands Swrve and Miltag will be there too showing off and selling their wares.
According to Phil Bespoked Bristol 2011 will be the meeting point for makers, designers and customers to come together, discuss and share ideas as well as order a bike or two. So if you’re thinking of buying a custom frame, bicycle components or unique cycle clothing this is the place to be. Can't wait.
