Lance Armstrong to lead Twitter ride in Dornoch this afternoon

Chance to ride with seven-time Tour de France winner in North of Scotland

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong will this afternoon host his second ‘Twitter ride’ in Scotland. The first took place in August 2009 in Paisley, just outside Scotland’s biggest city, Glasgow. Today’s outing starts and finishes in the rather less populous town of Dornoch, 150 miles to the north.

The Texan announced details of the ride, which begins at 5pm today and comprises a 30-mile loop from the Eagle Pub, on his Twitter stream last night.

The short notice plus the relative remoteness of the location means that the ride is unlikely to attract the kind of crowds seen when Armstrong organised similar initiatives two years ago in Paisley and Dublin, but thanks to the new region feature on our Fantasy Cycling game we know there’s a few of you up there.

If you do manage to get along, hopefully you’ll be able to share pictures and video to show how it went, and feel free to add comments about the ride below.

The weather wasn't good for it this weekend. But I bet anyone who turned up in a "Floyd Fairness Fund" jersey or an "I ♥ Tyler Hamilton" gilet would surely have gotten an icy stare that would tip the balance into full hypothermia.
