CTC looking for people to run its Bike Club programme

Fancy a job helping people get on their bikes? If you do the CTC would like to hear from you. They are looking for the right people to help them run their new Bike Club Programme. You'll need to hurry though because applications need to be in by 18 May.

Over the next two and a half years Bike Club will work with thousands of young people and families across Britain to help them make cycling a part of their lives and they are looking for people to help run the scheme.

The idea is to build on the succcess of CTC projects like these:

• Blind children and parents are going on tandem rides from Sheffield into the Peak District with their families or friends.
• A group of teenage Asian girls from Rochdale have learned to ride bikes and are now planning a 3 day cycling expedition into the countryside.
• Crowdies Hill Special School in Swindon has set up playground cycling lessons for pupils with special educational needs.
• A fleet of mountain bikes has been bought for Dalby Forest in the North York Moors so parties of children from all over Yorkshire can try mountain biking in the forest.
• A group of mums from the Peepul Centre in Leicester have learnt to ride so they can go out with their children. They enjoyed to so much that last year they ran the first Asian Women's charity bike ride in the UK.

The are looking for a Bike Club Manager and eight Bike Club officers. Bike Club is funded by the Department for Transport and Cycling England and each officer have responsibility for one of eight cluster areas each one including one of Cycling Englands cycling demonstration towns.
