Ben Fogle says Choose My Challenge for WWF

The Tousled One is back and this time he's …er... undecided...

TV action man Ben Fogle is famously up for anything and soon he'll be swimming, cycling OR running for the environmental and conservation organisation WWF. The thing is, he is letting visitors to the WWF website choose which.

Fogle is a WWF Ambassador and encouraging people to participate every day in their planet-saving activities under the overall The Panda Made Me Do It campaign.

The sporting choices for this this coming Spring and Summer are:

A swimming challenge - by all accounts Fogle is a recent convert to open water swimming and in taking part in an as-yet-unspecified event he wants to promote the work that WWF carries out to protect the world's water resources. WWF works to protect marine and freshwater areas all around the world for the benefit of people and nature.

A cycling challenge - The Nightrider on the 9th and 10th June will involve cycling 100km overnight around London visiting all the key landmarks and starting at either Alexandra Palace or Crystal Palace. For this one, Fogle is promoting sustainable transport, as well as enjoying the outdoors and the company.

A running challenge - yup, Fogle could be running the London Marathon on 22 April for WWF. He hasn't run the London Marathon in a while and is keen to beat his previous time so he's aiming for an ambitious 3 hours 30. "As an Ambassador for WWF," the charity says, "Ben is keen to show his support by taking this challenge and raising funds for WWF's conservation work globally."

Of course, here on road.cc we'd like to see him doing The Nightrider not least for the sake of his poor knees if he tries to run 26.4 miles in 3 hours 30 minutes. The Nightrider does sound like fun.

And the Fogle has gone way up in our estimation if that bike is his; a steel frame, level top tube and 'bar end shifters are the mark of a real man in our book.

Just so you know, the cycle challenge is currently in the lead with 51.79% of the vote but the swimming is not that far behind with 35.28% and the London Marathon at a very sensible 12.93%
