Shimano launch pro cycling website + videos

Packed with video, blogs and news from Shimano sponsored pro cycling teams

Here’s a new website for you to bookmark (Steady! - ed). Shimano is upping their social media stakes with the launch of a new website, www.weraceshimano.com, that will be a repository for race blogs, video, photos, news and much more from the WorldTour teams they sponsor.

The componentry giant has been quietly producing a lot of videos through its YouTube channel. This new website will bring all their content under one roof, as it were, so if you want to keep track of the latest from the teams racing Shimano this season, it’s worth a look.

And with Shimano sponsoring seven WorldTour teams (Argos-Shimano, BMC, Francaise des Jeux, Orica GreenEdge, Radioshack Nissan Trek, Team Sky and Blanco Pro Cycling) and the pretty much unlimited access they are granted, there should be some good stuff on there.

Here’s an example, Philippe Gilbert talking about the importance of good wheels during Paris-Nice. He’s obviously going to say Shimano wheels are the best isn’t he?

Shimano customise shoes and now insoles for their sponsored riders. In this video Shimano's shoe expert Lloyd Thomas fitted Marcel Kittel with a customised insole, and he talks through the whole process which is interesting stuff.

And while we’re plunging their video archive, here’s a good look at Team Sky’s Pinarello with mechanic Igor Turk.

So, that website address again, www.weraceshimano.com. We’ll bring you snippets and highlights from Shimano throughout the season as well.

David worked on the road.cc tech team from 2012-2020. Previously he was editor of Bikemagic.com and before that staff writer at RCUK. He's a seasoned cyclist of all disciplines, from road to mountain biking, touring to cyclo-cross, he only wishes he had time to ride them all. He's mildly competitive, though he'll never admit it, and is a frequent road racer but is too lazy to do really well. He currently resides in the Cotswolds, and you can now find him over on his own YouTube channel David Arthur - Just Ride Bikes
