Organisers of the Tour of Britain Sweetspot have announced the teams that will line up at the start of the race’s tenth edition in Peebles, Scotland on September 15.
This year’s edition will have the largest ever field with 114 riders making up 19 six-man teams.
Britain’s powerhouse Team Sky leads the field and after his disappointing early season, SIr Bradley Wiggins has built his comeback training around two targets: the World Championship time trial and the Tour of Britain.
“I’m really good now, I’m back to where I was back in May. It is all looking good for the next couple of months – Tour of Britain, World Championships,” he told the Press Association’s Andy Hampson.
Four more WorldTour teams will join Sky in Scotland, Cannondale, Garmin - Sharp, Movistar and Omega Pharma - Quick Step. It’s not yet known which riders these teams plan to field, but fans will be hoping that Omega Pharma - Quick Step plans to unleash Mark Cavendish on Britain’s roads once again, and that Cannondale fields Peter Sagan to stop the Manx Missile from having sprint stages all his own way.
This will be the first visit to the Tour of Britain for Spain’s Movistar squad, and also for two teams new for this year, IAM Cycling and Madison Genesis.
“This year’s Tour of Britain will have a world-class line-up bringing a number of international stars to race on British roads, while at the same time allowing our top domestic teams and a Great Britain squad to race on the biggest stage possible for them,” said race director Mick Bennett.
“The make-up of teams will provide another exciting and unpredictable Tour from a racing perspective, whether you are watching at the roadside or at home on the live television coverage.”

Allez Wiggo. Legs nicely rested in Eneco Tour.
Especially happy to see IAM taking part from the pro-contis, and also Madison Genesis bringing the steel (hands-down the best-looking bikes in any peloton anywhere).

great announcement, love being able to catch teams take to the roads in the UK.
