I'm constantly impressed by the quality, performance and price of dhb's clothing, and this new Blok Fluoro Long Sleeve Jersey is a fine addition to their range, and it is perfect for the autumn and winter cycling. For autumn, when it's too cold really for a jersey and arm warmers, it's a good top-layer, and for colder winter days it's an ideal mid-layer.
It's a lightweight top, with a thin polyester fleece fabric that is very breathable and provides just the right amount of insulation. It's not one for really cold winter days on its own, but pushed into service as a mid-layer with a jacket of the top you can get three-seasons use out of it easily. The fabric is good at keeping you dry even when working hard too, so you don't get that soggy feeling that you can with some jerseys.
Wear it over a short sleeve base layer for warmer days or a long sleeve base layer (there is enough space in the arms to accommodate one) one the temperature drops. There isn't any wind-resistance to speak of in the fabric, that's just fine when it's warm but consider taking a windproof gilet on those days when there is a strong cold wind blowing across the fields.
The fit is good, a nice balance between close and baggy. It's quite a stretchy material that helps it fit comfortably. It's the sort of top that you don't even think about once you've started a ride. I've been testing a size medium. The shape is good with a nice fit around the shoulders, with no restriction in the arms and the chin guard stops the full-length zipper irritating your neck when it's done all the way up.
There are standard details like silicone lined waistband, dropped back section and elasticated cuffs. Out back are three open pockets plus a zipped compartment on the middle pocket. That's plenty of space for a spare tube, pump, lightweight jacket, phone, keys and any food you want to take with you.
Lastly, there is the bold style of this jersey, which really helps it stand out in a crowded marketplace. dhb have certainly been bolder with their designs in the past couple of years. They used to be really conservative when they launched but it's clear they're feeling a bit more confident now, and it's reflected in their latest range. Granted it won't be for everyone, but I think it looks brilliant in a refreshing, completely different, way. Kudos dhb.
Verdict
Really smart looking and top performance autumn and winter jersey

I like it...and I also like the pink/fluoro arm warmers that go with the short sleeve jersey...I do have deuteranopia mind you....
What planet is this reviewer on? I can't remember seeing an uglier jersey.
Why does it look like two different jerseys in the pictures? The side view shows a different design on the back.
edit: never mind, I must be blind.
`I think it looks OK myself but the Fluoro bit is on the pavement side.
He's right when he says it won't be for everyone. I think it looks like an '80s shell suit.
