Another good value garment from BTwin, the short-sleeve 700 Jersey is well made, nicely cut and breathable. It can also be paired with matching 700 bib shorts (review here) to create a £75 outfit.

The cut is slim yet spacious enough to accommodate a little extra timber if you carry some. The sleeves are cut close, too – so no need for grippers – and underneath feature a mesh material that helps vent heat from your armpit area: a nice touch.

The centre rear of the jersey features the same mesh material all the way down the back, which makes heat management overall a positive key selling point, with a mix of relatively thin Lycra and polyester providing give where it's needed and added ventilation throughout the body.

The different materials are held together by good quality flatlock stitching, which lends an air of quality to the 700 jersey. It'll deal with being washed repeatedly no problem at all, and is more hardwearing than a lot of other lightweight summer jerseys I've come across. The quality stretches to the full-length YKK zip, which is solid and dependable.

Other great features include a flat elasticated waistband coupled with a silicone strip to stop the jersey riding up, while the back has the usual three pockets (each of which with enough capacity to hold some reasonable bulk), plus a zipped pocket with added water repellency. It even has a fifth, on the side, for easy access to light essentials such as a gel. Throw in an earphone cable guide, and it's hard to see what else could be included.

This is a jersey that fits comfortably, has all the features you could want for a day in the saddle, and matches perfectly with the bib shorts if you wanted a good value 'outfit'. All in all, it's very good.

Tried one of these on last weekend. Whichever size I tried seemed to lack body length. But, hey, that's just me. I'm sure they'll be great for most people. Plenty of great features to which the reviewer rightly alludes.
