I had a different pair of specialized gloves that did the exact same thing. I bought them for a lejog and they ended up giving me agony. Ended up wrapping a buff around each brake hood.
I have this mitt, and I do not like it at all. I spend a lot of time on the hoods (who doesn't?), and I find that the material bunches up excessively and there are too many seams between the thumb and index finger. I worried a bit about this before buying, but hoped it wouldn't be a problem. It is.
Try before you buy.
Same here - utter crap for road riding. Even after several hundred miles and several washes, they're still uncomfortable. Got some cheaper specialized gloves that are fine though.
