The Prologo 3 jersey has been updated since it was first reviewed on road.cc last year, with a new design and range of colours. The same fabric construction is used in this latest incarnation, a good thing as the original was really very good, and adds in a full-length zip.
The Prologo 3 is now available in four colours, each with a contrast stripe across the top of the chest, finished with a small Castelli logo. The same contrast stripe is repeated on the back but lower down at the waist band. It's paired with with a curved mesh panel in a contrasting colour over the back of the shoulders.
Castelli make the jersey from Stratus, a polyester fabric with a textured, closed-mesh construction. It's very soft on the skin and works well at pulling moisture away from the body, which is helped by the Prosecco hydrophilic treatment applied to the fabric at production.
Castelli say it has a working temperature range of 17-30°C. The recent heat wave has been the perfect testing situation for the jersey, where it has performed brilliantly.
It's a comfortable jersey when you're riding really hard, and does noticeable reduce that soggy and clingy feeling you can get in some jerseys. The large mesh panel across the top of the back improves ventilation, as does the full-length zip.
There's the regular three pocket setup on the back of the jersey. They've added a small zipped pocket that gives you somewhere to safely keep your house keys, or other valuables. There's a nice little reflective tab on the back pocket as well for low-light visibility.
Verdict
A smart design and new full-length zip make the Prologo a better buy than before. A good choice for hot weather cycling.
