These knee warmers from DeFeet, a company better known for their range of socks and gloves, are made from a single seamless tube of Coolmax/Lycra material. They're longer than most knee warmers and that means they can cover the legs well above and below the knee, providing extra insulation on cold autumn rides.
Typically, knee warmers are anatomically shaped for comfort around the knee, as it goes through the pedalling cycle. These Kneekers instead rely on the stretch of the 45% Lycra fabric, and despite their simple tube shape, they were perfectly comfortable. The comfort is also improved due to the lack of silicone gripper tape or heavily elasticated openings - the length and stretch of the fabric used easily kept them in place on the legs.
They provide good protection from the cold and rain without any hint of overheating. An Aireator mesh is used in the back panel, which improves heat regulation and also contributes to the comfort, but allowing extra flexibility.
Knee warmers are a vital component of a cyclist's outfit at this time of year. Getting a good fitting pair that are comfortable can be tricky. These DeFeet Kneekers are easily the most comfortable I've tested. Great in a range of temperature conditions and the generous length provides a good overlap with bib shorts.
If you want a bit more warmth, there's a Merino wool version too.
Really comfortable knee warmers with a bit more length than most that cope with range of temperatures.
