Video just in: Cube Attain GTC Pro Disc

The Cube Attain GTC Pro Disc has just arrived for review here at road.cc, a £1,699 comfort/endurance road bike built around a carbon-fibre frame.

It comes in a geometry that’s quite relaxed by road bike standards. We have the 58cm model here with a 575mm top tube and a 202mm head tube. That gives you quite a high front end, the idea being to put less stress on your back and neck.

The frame is built with thru axles front and rear, a tapered head tube (it takes a 1 1/8in bearing at the top and a 1 1/4in bearing at the bottom) and you get mudguard mounts that are barely noticeable.

The bike comes with 25mm Continental Grand Sport Race SL tyres but there’s plenty of space at the fork crown and chainstays/seatstays to fit something wider if you like.

The spec is based around a Shimano 105 groupset, 105 being Shimano’s third tier road groupset after Dura-Ace and Ultegra, and you get Shimano RS505 hydraulic disc brakes here. The chainset is compact (with 50-tooth and 34-tooth chainrings) and the cassette is 11-32 tooth so you get some low gears for taking on the hills.

The Attain GTC Pro Disc isn’t particularly light at 9.1kg (20.1lb), but there are things that are more important than weight. 

As the name suggests, the Wilier GTR Team Endurance 105 that we reviewed last year (£1,649) has a mostly Shimano 105 groupset too, although it has rim brakes and the cassette is 11-28 tooth. It’s a little lighter than the Cube at 8.5kg (18.7lb). 

We described the Wilier as “a swift and smooth ride for those who want an endurance bike with a racing slant.”
