It's been strangely warm this past week for road.cc's reviewers (and everyone else of course), which means the overshoes have temporarily gone away and the thinner gloves have come out. We'll enjoy it while it lasts, as freezing cold conditions are no doubt around the corner before spring rolls in!
Giant Quick Fix Kit Road
£34.99
As it says in the title, this kit should have everything you need to fix a flat or make minor adjustments on the road in one handy pouch. A mini ratchet with nine tool bits, tyre levers, a CO2 inflator with cartridges are all included, for what seems to be a pretty reasonable price. Does it do the job? Dave Atkinson's review is coming soon.

Mavic Aksium wheelset
£179.00
An appealing price with performance to match according to Mavic, the Aksiums have a 17mm internal rim width to accommodate larger tyres up to 32mm and straight-pull spokes that they say are stronger than J-bend options. Promising to be smooth and efficient for everyday road riding, they're built with a reinforced drilling rim design, QRM cartridge bearings and highly durable hubs. Do they punch above their 1.84kg (for the pair) weight? Stu Kerton is currently finding out...

LEM Volata helmet
£59.99
This sensibly priced lid is at home in a race or on the bike path according to LEM, with a shape that has aerodynamics in mind without looking too showy. 17 cooling vents, an adjustable micro-fit system and EPS in-mold technology complete the tech specs, and it also passes both US and European safety standards.

Bontrager Ballista road shoes
£199.99
In arguably their most garish colour choice (you can get plain old black if preferred) the Ballistas are "for athletes who demand the pinnacle of performance" according to Bontrager. They weigh in at 257g per shoe and are designed to wrap around your foot with 'slipper-like comfort'. They also have an unusual rear-mounted BOA system which we hadn't seen before they arrived in the office (apparently Lake have been doing it for a while) and we're curious to see if Stu thinks they provide the same closure as a dial or two on the tongue like we've become accustomed to...

Oxford Bright Shoes 2.0
£32.99
These overshoes have a full reflective upper, and really are quite reflective as you can see. The heel and toe section is reinforced and the zip is reinforced to keep the worst of the wind and rain out, and they weigh in at 138g. Did these overshoes win us over? The full review is coming later this month...

An appalling report by the BBC....
Reading this story, it's worth noting:...
Did the report make any mention of the pope defecating in the woods?
Of course it comes from boeuf but we are still using it that is the very point. Just like we use what are essentially archaic terms or essentially...
The Fr Russell Rd one looks horribly narrow, with a pedal-strike kerb against the cycle track on one side.

A shame the Endura GV500 isn't reversible - would have one by now if it was.
