I notice a lot of the comments seem to be from commuters rather than roadies. I only buy clothes for road riding/training and would be interested in comparison tests between the likes of Rapha Sportwool jerseys and Assos synthetic offerings.
Quality bibshort reviews - Assos, Goirdana, Rapha and Pearl Isumi etc.
Gloves - mitts and winter
For me Rapha and Assos would be a benchmark for all clothing brand tests
I'd like to see some of the less represented brands of bike on test - Litespeed , Look, BMC.
Got some Rapha stuff coming in, and we'll be looking to get in some Assos too (not prejudicing anything - cos I won't be testing it, but there are other brands working in synthetics who easily give Assos a run for their money - De Marchi spring to mind as one (so we should try and get some of their kit in too).
Less tested bike brands are very much on our list as well - although one of the reasons some of them are less tested is simply that they either don't want their bikes tested or haven't got any to test. Mind you, that doesn't include any of the brands you mentioned.
Tony, I reckon a softshell test would be handy, as they're taking over for winter riding. Being as we've had our annual rainfall for the summer (I hope) then the waterproofs may not be required... I'll happily review the ones I've got (or lend them for a review), being the 2xu, 2 different howies ones, a berghaus one and a cheap and cheerful Aldi special.
Ant,
Top marks for optimisim? Take your point though, we will try and have a look at some soft-shells because that does seem to be where the advances are all being made at the moment.
We will try and get a 2xu one in, but I might come back to you on the Aldi - they are really hard to get when Aldi aren't doing their cycling promotions. Thanks for the offer on the others we'd want to test them ourselves and I wouldn't want to leave you jacketless as winter approaches. Mind you, it isn't going to rain…
according to the met office we're looking at a dry-ish and mild winter, so hopefully they're right on this one. Michael Fish didn't say there would be a hurricane though...
Anyways, on the shell's, I have 2 of each of the Howies ones, so no worries if you do want to take them in for a while. Besides, I don't ride much in the winter comparatively - can't be arsed to clean the bike that often!
Thanks yorshire -p we might well take you up on that.
