Specialized venge elite 105 or Bianchi oltre xr1 ultegra?

Im having troubles on deciding which bike to buy. The price is the same but there are some better components on the oltre and other that is better on the venge. The wheels are crap on both but the handlebar is sworks om the venge and some bisnchi aluminium kind on the oltre. The brakes are 105 on venge and FSA gossamer on oltre...the weight is 0.5kg less on the oltre. I love specialized as a brand but the oltre is much mor nice looking and with better components....but i cant decide which one to buy, what do you think is the best buy?

I was just trying to work out how you'd seen the Bianchi for the same price as the Specialized! Had me scratching my head good and proper.

My advice - save up for the S5 - as long as you're not bikeless at the moment then if thats the bike you really want it will be worth it.

edited - Spokely says there's a tall person's Cervelo S5 at Merlin for £2700. If a 61cm is your size then you're in luck!

Dude that's not even a question.

Bianchi all the way.

These are very different machines - the Venge is all aero and rather flexy from what I hear, whereas the oltre is a more balanced all round road bike - more akin to a Tarmac from the big S family. This partly explains the weight penalty the Venge has.

If you live in a flat area then its a no brainer - take the Venge.

How did you narrow it down to these two bikes if I may ask?

Have you ridden them both?

If you have, and you still have this dilemma then decide if you want Italian chic or 49% Merida. 3

There are Fulcrum s5 on the venge and 7 on Oltre. Are these equally bad?

They're not bad for beating around on, I have 7s laying around that go from bike to bike for poo weather and they're great. 5s are marginally better, a little lighter and with double butted 'aero' spokes but the difference in performance between the two will be negligeable.

Ref the bikes, I have the Oltre XR2 and it's stunning. I don't imagine the lower grade XR1 would be too distant to that in quality at all. The Bianchi is an astonishingly good bike and, unlike the Venge, has 'it'.
