We’ve flagged up Cervélo TestTeam’s Beyond The Peloton films before, and they’re well worth watching, each giving a unique, 15-minute behind-the-scenes insight into the ProTour outfit’s debut season.
Now, film-makers Joe Finkleman and Booker Sim have released the second of three films shot at this year’s Tour de France, which promise to “show you what race footage fails to capture”.
Focusing on the middle week of the race, which took the peloton from Barcelona to the foothills of the Alps via the High Pyrenees and the heart of France, the film gives an insider’s view of a team competing in the world’s biggest annual sporting event.
Without giving too much away, the latest episode includes the team discussing to the radio ban on Stage 10, thoughts about the threat from Mark Cavendish in the competition for the green points jersey, and Heinrich Haussler talking about what it was like to ride his debut Tour in 2007, when he was racing for Gerolsteiner, and what kept him from abandoning the race.
And if there are any Norwegian speakers out there who can let us know the words to the song Thor Hushovd’s fans are singing, we’d appreciate it – we can make out the word “Cavendish,” but that’s about it.
Previous episodes, still available online at www.bartape.net, cover the team’s beginnings, the Tour of California, Spring classics including Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix, and the Giro d’Italia. They can be streamed in various definitions depending on your connection, and there are also versions optimised for the Apple iPhone.

Yes, I think these are terrific.
The iPod/iPhone download is good enough quality to run fine on the computer (182 MB for 15mins). I let it download in the background then watch it during my lunch break.
They're great, and I can vouch that the iPhone-optimised version does exactly what it says on the tin
Can't wait for the third one either.
Love these videos, can't wait to watch this one and the third!
