Wedding bells chime for Sir Chris Hoy

Olympic legend marries fianceé in Edinburgh's St Giles Cathedral...

Sir Chris Hoy will be forever associated with the five circles that together make up the Olympic symbol – the four-time gold medallist even has a tattoo of it, not that there’s any danger of his exploits being forgotten – but his thoughts today were occupied by a ring of a quite different sort as he tied the knot with fiancée Sarra Kemp.

The pair had been engaged for around a year, but kept their wedding plans under wraps, and even kept the venue, St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, a secret until the last possible moment, according to the BBC.

Even guests, including Hoy’s fellow Beijing gold medalist, swimmer Rebecca Adlington, were not told about the location of the wedding until late on.

In keeping with tradition, the cyclist, who was born in the Scottish capital, sported traditional Highland dress, while the bride wore a white wedding dress complete with veil.
