Welsh venue for Single Speed UK Championships 2010

Cwm Rhaedr in Dyfed’s Towy Valley has been confirmed as the venue for the 2010 Singlespeed UK Championships (SSUK), which take place from 13-15 August. The purpose-built trail, close to the town of Llandovery and the Brecon Beacons National Park, features a 4km descent.

Organisers, who had to overcome a number of obstacles including a change of location before confirming this year’s event, promise that “weather proof trails, easily conquerable but satisfying climbs, stunning views and awesome single track will all come together to provide a great ‘race’ venue for all abilities,” and add “we can pretty much guarantee the most breathtaking beer stop of any event you’ve been to.”

The event is based at a nearby farm where camping will be available from the Friday to the Sunday, with on-site catering provided by The Dropoff Café and a post-race bar and entertainment on the Saturday evening.

In keeping with tradition, organsisers say that “it’ll be a usual single speed affair – the start will probably not quite be on time, we’ll probably move your bikes around, and we’re guessing that some of you may be starting the race feeling a little worse for wear” and full details of the event and how to enter can be found on its website.
