If you hadn't realised there is a naked bike riding season, you have no excuse now. Starting Friday 11th June, there will be official World Naked Bike Rides in Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Sheffield, Southampton and York.
According to the organisers, World Naked Bike Rides are intended to be a "peaceful, imaginative and fun protest against oil dependency and car culture. A celebration of the bicycle and also a celebration of the power and individuality of the human body. A symbol of the vulnerability of the cyclist in traffic."
There will be rides taking place in over 50 cities worldwide but the UK events coincide with the build up to National Bike Week which starts 19th June.
The UK rides started in 2004 and have gradually grown in numbers and locations. Last year there were over 2,000 riders at 7 locations. The two new rides are in Bristol (fnar!) and Edinburgh where it is still not strictly legal to be completely naked in public.

Trouble is, with a road cyclist tan, you'd still look like you'd come along wearing the Footon-Servetto kit. And frankly, riding naked is less embarassing than that.
