Track Worlds: Dibben takes gold as GB double medal tally

Jon Dibben has taken Great Britain's second gold medal of the 2016 UCI World Track Championships at the Lee Valley VeloPark, storming through on the final sprint of the 160-lap points race to snatch victory.

In another rousing evening at the velodrome where Team GB's cyclists dominated the 2012 Olympic Games, Laura Trott added to her gold medal in the scratch race yesterday evening by helping the women's pursuit squad secure bronze.

There was also a guaranteed bronze medal for British riders in the men's individual pursuit this evening as Team Wiggins colleagues Andy Tennant and Owanin Doull faced off for third place, with Tennant prevailing.

This evening's racing double's the host nation's medal tally to six.

Meanwhile, halfway through the omnium, Mark Cavendish's place in that event for Rio is still in the balance. He was second in the last of today's three events, the elimination race, to move up to seventh overall, but has been told he needs to finish on the podium to secure a place in Brazil this summer.
