Might part of it be down to just how dramatically different that junction is now? I had to drive round it a couple of months ago and I ended up in completely the wrong lane on 2 occasions. Admittedly I very rarely drive in London but I've ridden round E&C hundreds of times.
Last I remember of it was the traditional double roundabout so it was a very substantial change and having to jostle round a completely redesigned double junction, hemmed in by buses, cars and bikes was incredibly demanding.
I happen to work in the delightful building on top of the shopping centre, and overlooking the junction. I actually think it's pretty decent, apart from the London Road entrance to the junction which is shockingly badly planned.
my first day in the building was the day the pedestrian was killed and I was in on Wednesday when the motorcycle accident took place. I didn't see either incident but saw the aftermath.
The standard of driving is appalling, there was an accident at lunchtime today because a car decided to change lanes partway round a bend without looking properly, unfortunately that's SOP at most times of the day.
To be totally honest, the cyclists and pedestrians are just as bad, running across three lanes of road because they can't be bothered to wait for the lights to change, and the cycling this afternoon cycling the wrong way up the bus lane then through two sets of red lights was a lowlight.
I'd love to get someone form TfL to sit at my desk for a day, so they can see what the problems are. To many buses and HGVs, poor light phasing, and people not knowing where they are going and being in the incorrect lane for their destination.
Ive been in the office less than two months and seen two deaths and numerous accidents.
Sounds like victim blaming to me
Inanimate object branded dangerous to placate the motoring lobbies, one rides and drives according to the conditions. Sorry if I sound harsh but motor vehicles need to slow down especially in cities.
