Missing cyclist with mild dementia found on Thames towpath

Barry Summers was missing for around 24 hours

A missing cyclist has been found shortly after his ex-wife took to Facebook to appeal for information as to his whereabouts.

According to the post by Janie Harland, Barry Summers went out at around 2pm on Thursday but had not been heard from by midday Friday.

“He has mild dementia, but is generally well and fit and lives independently,” wrote Harland. “He has, however, had a few dizzy spells recently and we are very concerned he may have fallen and hurt himself.”

It was thought that Summers had been riding his mountain bike along the towpath from Kingston-upon-Thames to Ham House, or gone around Bushy Park.

The post was shared over a hundred times and around 24 hours after he had disappeared, Harland confirmed that he had been found.

“Thank you everyone for sharing. He has been found on the tow path and been taken to hospital. Waiting for news. Thanks again. What a caring community.”

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.
