Police in Buckinghamshire have issued an appeal for witnesses after a cyclist allegedly punched a female driver in Aylesbury.
The incident happened at 8.45am last Thursday morning, 21 July, in Wendover Road, Aylesbury.
According to Thames Valley Police the woman, aged 35, was driving towards Wendover from Stoke Mandeville and had to brake suddenly as she exited a roundabout.
The cyclist, riding behind her vehicle, was also forced to brake. Officers say that the rider then followed the car and, when it stopped in a queue of traffic, knocked on the window then punched the woman in the face.
The motorist is said to have suffered injuries to her face, although she did not need to go to hospital.
Police described the cyclist as “white, in his late thirties or early forties, taller than 6ft and of average build.
“He was wearing Nike sunglasses, a black cycle helmet with a blue sticker on the back, an orange cycling top and a black rucksack.”
PC Chris Tindal of Wendover Police Station commented: “I would like to speak anyone who has any information about the incident in which a man punched a woman while she was at the wheel of a car.
“Someone may have vital information which could help us in our investigation and I would request they contact police.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

I'm not passing judgement on what happened, but if the alleged assailant is found guilty, what is the likelyhood he will get a stiffer sentence than a motorist who kills with their vehicle?
Absolutely guaranteed. You can assault a cyclist using a car and no-one cares, but let a cyclist assault a driver and they'll have the book thrown at them. Prison sentence at least, which is only fair, as these anarchic cyclists have to be made to behave, just like the drivers are made to behave now.
Am I the only one to think he was just signalling & didn't see her
The cyclist needs to change the blue sticker on the back of his helmet. Job done, innocent! The only time a driver would need punching is when they punch you first or if you survive when they've knocked you off! I sympathise with the driver in this case, because she never did anything wrong lol
I'd be pretty astounded that she was all innocence and smiles and got lamped for sod all. (conjecture m'lud)
I had a close pass by a 'female' in a Subaru Imprezza (think it was a dressed up 1.5/1.6 TBH).
I gave her a bit of verbal and she drove on and stopped further up the road from me, pulling out in front of me as I approached her.
Then about 15 mins later she was parked up in my town main street. Opposite side of the road from the direction I was travelling in
I would have done more than punch her, had I not been the cool. calm sweet natured person that I am....
was she fit then lol!
A little cursory research suggests that punching a woman in the face isn't altogether unacceptable any more. There is precedent here.
Police like to do it:

Some sort of contest to win a car. Just have to punch a woman in the face:

A bloke riding a bike to work stops and assaults a woman. Basically he's a thug who needs prosecuting!
well I for one have never had a woman in a car try to bully and threaten me with their car.
lady drivers are nothing but sweetness and smiles.
Equal rights?
Men are portrayed as such useless fops these days (you know the adverts - man is utterly stupid, useless and fat and sassy, clever wife saves the day) maybe this guy just had a Falling Down moment.
In all seriousness, if the motorist's side of the story is true, then stopping your car entering a roundabout isn't usually worth getting punched over. Maybe it was clipping-in rage? Or do Nike wearers probably use flats?
She "had to brake suddenly as she exited a roundabout".
As others have said, this isn't the full story. Perhaps it was a deliberate stop in order to provoke the cyclist to crash because there was a previous incident?
Idle speculation I know, but if she was exiting the roundabout, there is a considerable possibility that she was overtaking him as she turned off, while he was going further around the roundabout; a left hook. I'd feel pretty agrieved at that, but probably not enough to punch the woman.

No excuse for a man punching a woman in the face, but I really think it would be a missed opportunity if we didn't enjoy some speculation about what really happened, you never know, it might come out...
My money is on she received a text and automatically braked for no reason other than that she was checking her phone.
Punching a woman in the face is pretty low regardless of what happened. Although punching anyone because you felt aggrieved at something that happened isn't any better.
I don't condone the cyclist's actions, that is plain wrong, but I wasn't there so am not aware of all the facts.
Having said that, I would love to see a headline that ran "Police seek driver who punched cyclist" or "Police seek driver who threatened cyclist" or "Police seek driver who close-passed a cyclist" or "Police seek driver who scared cyclist shitless for no reason" ...
Disgusting. Who wears Nike sunglasses?
Major LOL
All these drivers getting their keys snatched and punched in the face seem to have one thing in common. None of them did anything wrong
There's always more than we're told to these things at the investigation stage - and two sides to every story. Perhaps the cyclist will come forward with his reasons for apparently punching a woman in the face? Mmmm...
True, however given the facts we have to this point there's no reason to call it either way, other than looking forward to The World's Best Reason for a 6ft+ man to punch a Woman in the face.
What a hero.
